Effects of Cell Phones
Today, nearly every person that is between the ages of thirteen to adulthood and beyond
have a cell phone. Despite the fact, not every one knows the possible effects that cell phones can
have on the human body. In the New York Times article, Cell Phones: Questions but No
Answers lists possible effects that cell phones have on the human body.
The New York Times article written by Warren E. Leary expresses, Almost since there
have been cellular phones, there have been worries that the radio waves they emit might cause
brain cancer (par. 1). This cause is an example of a reciprocal cause because the cell phones
emit radio waves which possibly could lead to brain cancer. Even though there are not any
probable efficient studies on this effect, there are leading factors to this occurrence on the human
body. This article is focusing on the cause and how it effects people and their bodies. Multiple
researchers believe that cell phone radio waves can be a cause to brain cancer. While other
researchers believe that technology as a whole can cause brain cancer. In paragraph nine Leary
states, that a hospital compared different brain cancer patients with other patients that had been
exposed to cellular phone radio waves. The study noticed that there was one rare form of Glioma
that was found in patients that were exposed within the use of cellular phones. Since there was
one possible outcome, there will be more research completed to examine if cellular phone radio
waves can actually cause brain cancer.

Chapman 2
The relationship between the cause and the effect is plausible since there have been
studies on how cellular phones can cause brain cancer. Also, since there has been one probable
outcome that one form of Glioma was found within one of the studies.
