Why Is It Hard To Believe In Angels In Todays Society?
An Annotated Bibliography
Boa, Kenneth, and Robert M. Bowman Jr. Sense & Nonsense about Angels & Demons.
Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2007. Print.
Kenneth and Bowmans book offers direct and thought-provoking insights to ideas on the
existence of the supernatural in this world. The chapters covered in this book provide a
background of historical and biblically based information. The purpose of this book is to push
the readers levels of perceiving, thinking, and understanding the world around us. Along with
this come the controversial questions that as well, push the reader into becoming mindful of the
evidence and origins of spiritual beings. This book covers most intensely a deep focus on the
history of angelology.
Kenneth and Bowman offer realistic views on how to decipher and interpret past history.
By highlighting the way humans continuously question reality, the insights offered in this book
help direct the readers to distinguish the biblical truth on angels from the disparate truths evolved
through modern time. Anything beyond the reality of this world can result in uncertainty of our
former beliefs. This book patently reassures the reader that uncertainty doesnt have to be the end
to finding true answers.
Boa Kenneth and Robert M. Bowman Jr. are both contributors to many publications, each
with a Ph.D. background and a heavily manifested faith in Christ. Not only do their subtle

approaches in writing complement each other, but also both Kenneth and Bowman have different
education backgrounds having gained their edification from institutions in England and South
Africa. With tenable information and backgrounds from each of these authors, the readers should
feel assured that the content of this book is genuine and knowledgeable.
Brown, Janice B. "Mighty Ones, Who Do His Bidding." CS Lewis Blog. 2011. Web. 02 Apr. 2016.
Browns blog on C.S. Lewiss work offers a helpful use of imagery to depict the reality of
humanly relationships with angels. Her blog explores the fiction, non-fiction, letters, and poetry
of C.S. Lewis and his writing on spiritual beings. Brown takes the works of Lewis and dissects
the meanings of his creations to incorporate her own reflection and responses. Many of her
reflections help readers visualize the parallel between angels and humans.
Brown offers knowledge on the understanding of angels biblically and realistically. She
does this by comparing Lewiss works with her own perceptions based off her interpretation of
angels and the spiritual world. This display of information that Brown gives readers guides the
image and understanding of angels into a more clear-sighted manner. Since angels are hard for
many readers to imagine, Brown helps to illuminate the mythical ideas into a more realistic
sense.
Lewis and Brown are two writers that come from well-educated backgrounds. Lewis is a
prominent author and Christian apologist. However, Brown whom reflects upon all of Lewiss
work is quite brilliant for her accomplishment of four degrees of a B.A., M.A, B.Ed., and Ph.D.
at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Brown as well is praised for her Edgar Allan Poe
academic award and her teachings of English to children in Papua New Guinea. Browns
background should provide readers with much respect and acknowledgement of her works.

Kuhn, Robert Lawrence. "Do Angels and Demons Exist? - Science and Religion Today." Science and
Religion Today RSS. Web. 02 Apr. 2016.
Kuhn, author and host to show Closer to Truth, interviews Christian philosopher J.P.
Moreland on the existence of angels and demons. The two men in opposition defend themselves
through their beliefs, resulting in an intriguing conversation on the role of angels and demons in
our world. Kuhn and Moreland offer different perspectives and ideas on realistic situations such
as poverty and suffering. With candor of faith from both Kuhn and Moreland readers get to
discern over their perplexing conversation on the reality of angels.
Kuhn and Moreland offer a conversation of theological perspective through a focus on
angels. The engagement between the two opposing views provides a fresh analysis on angels for
those with minimal background knowledge on the topic. This allows readers to engage with the
reading without as much difficulty verses a reading with a philosophical view, which can become
confusing with hard concepts to grasp.
Closer to the truth is a public broadcast that is known in high respects. The show is
prominent for its association with the worlds greatest thinkers whom delve into humanities
deepest questions. When accompanied by two educators such as Kuhn and Moreland the topic
of angels can become even more persuasive. Kuhn is accredited for his Ph.D. in Anatomy/Brain
Research from the University of California Los Angeles and for his publishing of over 30 books.
Moreland is accredited with four degrees from multiple schools including his degree of a B.S. in
chemistry, Th.M. in theology, and his M.A. and Ph.D. in philosophy. Both Kuhn and Moreland
are highly respected and both insightful to the major questions and discussions on the topic of
angels.

MacDonald, A. J. The World Perceived: A Theological and Phenomenological Approach to Thinking,
Perceiving, and Living In-the-world. Place of Publication Not Identified: Publisher Not
Identified, 2009. Print.
MacDonalds book offers readers a chance to think critically about the way the world is
viewed. By incorporating science, philosophy, and phenomenology into his work, MacDonald
persuades the reader into observing how the biblical standings of the world are playing an effect
in our lives today. Through modern world-views and a touch of science and theology,
MacDonald is able to communicate with readers the importance of the Bibles relevance to
reality. This book concludes to challenge readers to gain a mental understanding of our
individual existence. Fascinating and relevant, MacDonalds book offers to reconstruct the
framework of our thoughts on reality.
MacDonald offers insight into the supernatural world including but not entirely to a focus
on angels. His stance on the supernatural is drawn from modern science, philosophy, the Bible,
and many more views to state his conclusions on the many phenomenons of this world.
MacDonalds book helps extensively to provide background knowledge to the way humans
perceive things, and in this case our perception of angels.
In choosing MacDonald as a source, my intentions to this inquiry topic on angels were to
seek out as many unique perspectives as possible. MacDonald offers a very unique perspective
and has been one of my most informative sources through everything I have read. His self-based
knowledge is truly unique because it is challenging and no one has proven his writing to be false.
This brings forth a new type of discovery on the existence and reality of angels, which is
important for readers to hear an outside perspective. MacDonalds multiple references to the
Bible are the foundation of his beliefs. Since this inquiry is an arguable and philosophical one,

there are no right or wrong answers or views. MacDonalds book may not be entirely true of
honest knowledge, however his views/beliefs are what is important which provides a platform in
using him as a credible source.
Williams, Peter S. "Do Angels Really Exist?" Bethinking.org. Bethinking.org, 2015. Web. 03 Apr. 2016.
Williams article offers a combination of various perspectives from different authors and
writers. Within this information Williams separates opposing views and conveys a strong
message to the readers. This message penetrates into the topic of spiritual beings and the
existence of the world. The overall goal of this message is to allow the readers to become aware
and informed on the study of angelology.
Williams presents readers with intellectual sources on spirituality. This universal human
experience revealed throughout the article deeply touches on the idea of angels. Williams
provides background information on the topic by extending the outlook on angels beyond that of
just biblical reference. References to science and philosophy help merge the existence of angels
into a comprehensible reality for those reading.
Many of the authors and titles mentioned in Williams article are people who come from
well-educated backgrounds. This extensive information on angelology isnt just credited to the
additional authors, but as well too, Williams himself. Williams graduated with his Ph.M. and is
an Assistant Professor at Gimlekollen School of Journalism and Communication located in
Norway. He has authored several books and is credited as a Christian philosopher and apologist.
