1.

a. My definition of discipline is the practice of teaching, instructing and training students

to follow and obey rules or a code of behavior, using rewards to encourage positive
and constructive behavior and using punishments to correct disobedience and negative
behavior. My main responsibilities within my idea of discipline will be to ensure that the
students are aware of the classroom rules, procedures and expectations. Also, to be
consistent with what is deemed acceptable vs. unacceptable behavior and with how
rewards and punishments are handed out. The main responsibilities of the students will
be to follow the rules within the best of their ability and to conduct themselves in
accordance with the guidelines and procedures that are set for the class.

a. Classroom rules:
Arrive on time.
Turn in work on time.
Raise your hand before speaking.
Respect the opinion of other students.
Stay on task.
Bring materials to class everyday.
Clean up after yourself.
Do the best with the abilities that you were given,
Do not take away from other students right to learn.
Treat others the way you want to be treated.
Classroom Recognition:
Students who act in accordance with the rules will be given special privileges
such as the use of classroom computers when appropriate, the ability to listen to
music while the work independently, and they will be allowed to drop their lowest
test grade if they choose.
Classroom Consequences:
Students who do not act in accordance with the rules will face consequences such
as office referrals, calls home to parents/guardians and assigned seating.
b. In advance, I will be sure to go over the rules and procedures of the class with the
students. The students will be given a syllabus that states the rules and procedures of
the classroom. I will go over it with them in class and they will complete a short quiz on
the basics on the rules and procedures are their first grade of the year or semester. The
students will also have to have their syllabus signed and returned by their parent
/guardian.

Students will raise their hand with three fingers if they are asking to use the restroom or

get a drink of water.

Students will be in charge of cleaning their area around their desks before leaving the
room.
Students will enter the room on time and me seated in their desk when the bell rings.

 Students will be expected to ask the teacher for their make-up work assignments if they

are absent.
Students will not be allowed to eat/drink in the classroom unless their is a health
condition the requires it.
