Preserving the Earth

The Earth has very delicate systems that can be changed by the even slightest disruption.
Humans need to find ways to conserve Earth and everything the Earth provides for all organisms.
Many humans do not take action to stop the amount of carbon dioxide being into the air for
multiple reasons, but changes needs to occur to allow the Earth stay within appropriate
temperature levels. New strategies are being created by people to make a change. Encouraging
people to make a change in their own daily lives, creating agreements with other countries, and
using new technology, the temperature on Earth can be lowered to cause a diminishing effect of
global warming. Making a change will not only help the Earth but also continue to provide
humans resources to ensure a reasonable life to individual. If global warming continues, the
Earth will be greatly affected causing humans to change their way of life permanently. Changes
need to occur so the future generations can have a better and safer environment to live on. The
Earth provides resources for all kinds of organisms and animals to enjoy. Humans are increasing
the average temperature on the planet which produces many effects; humans need to create new
strategies and ideas to stop the increasing temperature on Earth.
Global warming is a problem that has taken over how some people live; it is the
phenomenon that describes the increase of temperature on Earth. Global warming causes many
varying effects on the Earth. The Earth has been experiencing changes in weather patterns,
which impact not only humans but all the organisms on the planet. The weather patterns make
serious disruptions to individuals lives. In addition fossils fuels are currently the main source of
energy in the world. The fossil fuel consumption on Earth is increasing with increasing demand.
By using more fossil fuels, more carbon dioxide is being transferred into the air. The greater

PRESERVING THE EARTH

carbon dioxide in the air the greater the greenhouse effect will take place, increasing the Earths
temperature. The increasing temperatures on Earth cause great consequences, one of them being
how some humans have to evacuate their native lands. Humans are being obligated to leave their
homes, where they have lived their lives to a foreign place where they do not recognize anything.
With the water levels rising, individuals on the pacific islands have to move to higher ground to
be protected from water coming into their homes (Ma, 2014). With the new changes in weather
patterns, there is not much humans in places with no access with technology can expect. Even
people with access to technology, cannot escape the wrath of Earth. Global warming will just
create more problems due to the fluctuations in weather patterns and increasing temperatures on
the earth, which will affect humans and every organisms around the globe.
Places around the world are experiencing new effects due to global warming. The world is
getting either colder or warmer, since every location will not experience the same change in the
weather due to the complexity of the weather patterns. In the United Kingdom (UK), the
individuals living there are experiencing colder than average temperatures due to the arctic ice
melting. Since the arctic ice is melting, the cold air enters the atmosphere and causes the air to
become cooler (Singh & Singh, 2014). In addition, the people in the Pacific Islands are having to
evacuate their home lands due to the water rising. The Pacific Islands are experiencing changes
in their environment and culture. By having the indigenous people of those islands relocate,
many of the customs and traditions are diminishing because there are not enough people to carry
on the traditions (Ma, 2014). Conveying how much humans are already being affected by the
changed caused by global warming because their lives are being turned upside down due to all
the lifestyle modifications happening around them. If people start to recognize and take action in

PRESERVING THE EARTH

!4

the increase of carbon dioxide, humans may stop needing to modify their lives due to the
increasing and decreasing temperatures around the world. Furthermore, individuals need to
manage their lives differently. With the increasing temperatures, the growing season (agriculture)
has been changing just like the weather patterns. Many places are having to adjust how they
grow their crops because the heat may damage the plants or the plants may grow more slower/
faster, causing the food supply to adjust with what is going on with the Earth (Zheng, Chen,
Zhang, Song, Deng, Zhang, Wang, Mao, & Zhang, 2016). As the temperature on Earth continues
to rise, humans will need to change how they produce crops because they have optimal
temperatures to grow. Global warming is indirectly changing individuals lives. Many people
think global warming will just increase the temperature on the Earth and humans can deal with a
little bit of temperature increase, but they do not realize how global warming impacts humans
daily lives, from food to changes in weather patterns. In addition, the arctic ice is diminishing
causing record lows to be recorded in the amount of ice in the Arctic (Singh & Singh, 2014). By
having less ice in the arctic, there will be more available water in the oceans, making locations
that are near or below sea level almost be covered with water (Schleussner, Lissner, Fischer,
Wohland, Perrette, Golly, & Schaeffer, 2015). Some places have not been used to this much
excess water, people living in these locations will have to evacuate to higher ground. Global
warming has caused humans to change their living situations and with the amount of carbon
dioxide increasing the effects will be even greater.
With many changes being caused by global warming, action need to be taken to stop more
effects from taking place. By encouraging people to decrease greenhouse gas emissions in their
daily routine, the carbon emissions can diminish little by little. Creating a more eco-friendly

PRESERVING THE EARTH

!5

environment can also reduce carbon emissions since almost everything is powered by energy
produced from fossil fuels. Reducing the amount of greenhouse emissions into the air, people
can have a better place to live on the Earth for future generations. In humans daily habits
reducing the amount of energy used can be simple: turning off the lights and water when not
used. Using less energy provided by fossil fuels the main contributor of greenhouse gases can be
diminished. In addition, countries around the world can come together to create agreements to
stop the increase of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. With a global agenda of reducing
carbon emissions people can be encouraged to reduce their daily consumption of energy. Without
enforcement of laws people will not abide by them enough to provide a real change to the
environment. By providing a common goal individuals can come out with new ideas and
technology to limit carbon emissions. The state of California is implementing new laws which
introduce the use of trees to counteract the effects go carbon dioxide being emitted into the air
(Raskin, 2015). California is showing initiative and showing how by just planting trees, carbon
dioxide can be diminished in the atmosphere and make a difference. Various countries are
acknowledging to presence of global warming but do not have the means to start making a
change. Countries need to help each other to keep the world as a place where all the organisms
can enjoy the Earth and all the natural resources the planet has to offer. Additionally,
geoengineering is a new way that provides carbon dioxide removal and solar radiation
management of the Earth to stop the increasing temperatures and the greenhouse effect (Bala,
2014). These two new ideas to reduce global warming may be a way to stop new impacts on
Earth. Creating new strategies and ideas to stop the effects of global warming will help not only
humans but every living organism on the planet.

PRESERVING THE EARTH

!6

Around the world people and countries have already started to take initiative to combat
global warming. Not knowing how to make a change is the biggest hurdle to start to take action
toward the problem; once action is taken to combat a problem new ideas and strategies can be
learned. The first step to start creating a solution is to teach individuals who may not be fully
aware or understand global warming. Teaching people about the issues on the planet can help
encourage them to make a change and take action toward saving the Earth. Many people right
now are not fully aware of the intensity of how global warming can affect the Earth and their
daily lives. The weather patterns can do much more than just warm up the planet but can change
the agriculture and the water supply, all which contribute to the daily use of humans. As global
warming continues to escalate the impacts will also continue to escalate. With more educated
people being taught about global warming, those individuals can realize how much change needs
to occur to stabilize the Earth again. In addition, stopping/depleting the use of fossil fuels as the
main source of energy can help the depletion of carbon dioxide gas into the atmosphere.
Converting from fossil fuel usage to wind/solar usage the amount of carbon dioxide will be
reduced tremendously. Wind and solar power do not produce waste as much fossil fuels. Wind
and solar energy use renewable energy, meaning they may not depleted when used like fossil
fuels. Furthermore, many countries are starting to lead in the movement of global warming.
China and Paris have come to an agreement toward climate change and acknowledge the
presence of global warming around the world (Li, 2016). The agreement calls out for help from
other countries, but acknowledging the presence of a problem is a start (Li, 2016). When
countries tried to make a change in global warming early on it did not bear much fruit without
the participation of the United States because the United States is a huge influencer around the

PRESERVING THE EARTH

!7

world and without its help not much could be done (Li, 2016). Many other countries may follow
and acknowledge the importance to take a stand on global warming to change the amount of
carbon dioxide emissions entering the atmosphere, but every country needs to work together to
encourage others to take action and take a stand.
Implementing all the new innovative ideas and strategies humans have provided can create
benefits to the world. Providing a place for future generations to enjoy can produce a healthy
environment and stop more major catastrophes. Providing a more healthy environment for future
generations can increase the probability of humans being on Earth for longer period of time. If
there are extreme changes in the weather and makeup of the atmosphere, humans may need to
wear masks to not breathe in harmful toxins and change where they live. By changing the course
the Earth is on now the effects of global warming will be diminished, humans can live a healthier
life, and the future generations can thrive (Bows- Larkin). Furthermore, if the environment is
healthy again and back to the earths normal average temperature then more organisms will be
able to thrive and not be in danger of extinction, since many animals are not accustomed to such
higher or cooler temperatures. Creating more diversity in organisms which is better for wildlife
since wildlife cannot create such an impact on earth like humans. Not only are humans affected
by global warming but so are all the rest of organisms on the planet. Many organisms are dying
to extreme heat/cold because they do not know what is going on in the world around them. By
having global warming managed, humans and organisms can thrive together is a more stable
environment for all. In addition, with more predictable weather changes occurring around the
globe humans can prepare for what is expected to come in the future. By knowing and preparing
for what is to come in the environment agriculture can be helped. Agriculture is delicate because

PRESERVING THE EARTH

!8

crops need optimal conditions to grow, with temperatures and the Earths soil changing, many
crops are changing when their optimal growing period is (Zheng et al., 2016). Predictable
weather changes cannot only help humans but also the economy and agriculture. With more
crops being grown in their optimal temperatures more products can be produced to support
human consumption. By stopping the advances in global warming, individuals can help prevent
many problems going on in our world today; from providing organisms a better home to having
more predictable weather patterns to protect the worlds agriculture. The positive results can be
what is needed to give people the push to change their daily lives to take action to provide new
ideas to stop global warming across the world.
Although there is much evidence toward the idea of global warming occurring in the world,
there are still individuals who support the opposition, those who think global warming is not
happening on the Earth. Some scientists believe carbon dioxide levels are not a seriously
impacting the Earth since more data needs to be collected to prove how carbon dioxide is
affecting the changes in the atmosphere. The author Vasey (2013) explains how global warming
should be tested more extensively to provide more concrete evidence toward the idea of global
warming; but there are many studies being done to prove global warming is a real concern and a
problem. In addition, many people believe weather patterns change all the time, and they are
right, the Earth goes through its cycles of weather patterns. The difference is now more weather
patterns are intensifying and due to the carbon dioxide in the air many areas are experiencing
different temperatures. Furthermore, if there were no changes in weather patterns, then the
agriculture and insects would not be experiencing different optimal growing patterns (Sable &
Rana, 2016). Due to the changes in weather, many people who work in agriculture and insects

PRESERVING THE EARTH

!9

have to find a new approach to combat the changes to continue to get the best results.
Furthermore, some scientists do not believe humans are the main cause for the increase average
temperature on Earth. Scientists say humans contribute to global warming but not as much as
other researchers seem to believe, other factors such as livestock need to be researched more.
Since livestock such as cows produce methane gas, a greenhouse gas like carbon dioxide, cows
can also produce the greenhouse effect since methane is also trapped in the atmosphere creating
heat. Scientists who oppose the idea of humans being the main contributor of global warming are
looking into the idea of other factors such as cows which is one of the main livestock in the
United States. The researchers Singh & Singh (2014) researched a climate system which is called
the Atlantic multi-decadal oscillation (AMO) because it is a source of variability in ice extent,
so the researchers concluded that only as much as 30% of the arctic ice loss can be due to the
AMO and the rest is due to human causes (para. 27). Conveying how much of an impact humans
are actually producing onto the Earth, global warming has become a danger since many humans
have become accustomed to a new better way of living the producing carbon dioxide into the
atmosphere.
The Earth provides many resources for organisms on the planet. Humans are now
increasing the average temperature on the planet due to carbon dioxide emissions which cause
effects; humans need to create new strategies and ideas to stop the increasing temperatures on
Earth. There is currently not enough action taken by enough people to cause a difference.
Humans need to join together to create a worldwide cause for everyone to take a stand to stop
global warming. By creating new strategies to invite people to learn more about global warming
and having countries unite on a cause can push people to see how much of an impact global

PRESERVING THE EARTH

!10

warming is causing on the planet. Joining together can produce a better tomorrow for future
generations. Earth can still be sustainable for the future decades if people in the present join to
stop the phenomenon of global warming. What will become the Earth if no one takes care of it?
Protecting the Earth by action of humans consequences can produce major changes in a positive
direction.
