Classroom Management Plan
It is everyones natural desire to act a certain way to fit in socially, and everyone
has a unique niche to fit into. Some students feel the need act in a way that would gain
social acceptance but would be considered disruptive if that behavior were displayed in
a classroom. To me, discipline is making the choice to do what is appropriate when
tempted to act in a disruptive manner. Not only is discipline something each individual
should have when choosing a behavior, but it also refers to indiscriminate policies that
act as a guide for proper behavior. Discipline is crucial in maintaining a properly
functioning classroom for both the student and for the teacher, because a disorderly
classroom negatively impacts the learning environment for everyone involved.
Everyone who enters the classroom has some form of responsibility to maintain
order in the classroom. As a student, it is important to always be respectful towards
others. That means they should abide by the rules the school and the teacher have set
forth; they should be considerate of the mission the school is trying to accomplish
teaching students. The teacher has similar responsibilities. Without a mutual respect,
teachers will encounter many obstacles in classroom management. Teachers have to
constantly weigh the cost of their actions and students actions in the classroom. Every
action taken by the teacher comes at a cost, and it is important to always be consistent
with students.
