Anticipatory Set 10 Minutes
1. Sing welcome song
2. Learn new song of the week. This activity will start off with rote learning. The week of
4/11 carver students will be diving into Gracias and Lincoln will be learning Alla En el
Rancho Rita. The new songs of the week will allow for the students to

experience a song in a new language and I can stem this into my lesson
about what music is.

Teaching: Activities 30 minutes

1. (20 Minutes) I will pass out the music is essay sheets and follow with directions. I will
describe what I hope to gain from the students doing so that they know this activity is
important. The activity will consist of the students taking their sheets and writing what
music is to them. This activity will allow for expressivity and a learning experience as we
share openly around the room. **Be sure to be descriptive with what you want. Use
Blooms Taxonomy Higher thinking words as examples** (have them do fun things like
use colored pencils, crayons etc. Have them be expressive)
2. (10 minutes) Have the students open up and share what they wrote and discuss why each
person opinions differ and matter so much.

Closure 5 Minutes
As the top card assists with picking up clipboards and pencils have the students sing what is
learned of the new song of the week again and allow them to line up by row at the discretion of
the top cards choice.
Independent Practice
Practice saying words in Spanish that they learned from class. Encourage Students to make songs
