EDUCATION

Movement Education
Pioneered by Rudolph Jean-Marie Laban in 1971.
He identified 4 factors of movement :

In the 1970s this idea was developed by many people


and the movement education framework was created.

Movement Education Framework


Made up of four concepts:
o Humans need something to move = body
o They need a place to move =space
o They require the energy to move =effort
o They move in relation to others = relationships
Actions include:

Skipping
Jumping
Bending/twsiting

Objectives of Movement Education


Success.
Activity for all.
Contribution for all.
Teachers guide students through activities.
Students are encouraged to problem solve and take control.

Why Movement Education


It teaches basic skills of movement.
All sports/activities require some kind of jumping,
hopping, bending or twisting.
It facilitates cognitive & physical learning.
It relates to PDHPE K-6 Syllabus skills outcome:
