Profile of Your Students (cultural, language, developmental and behavioral characteristics):
Students come from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. The socio-economic status of families tends to be
low. Behavior management is a factor that requires careful attention to pacing, along with a variety of methods
for teaching. Three students have IEPs and a couple more are being evaluated for IEPs. Six students are
considered English Language Learners.

Objective(s):
1. I will name different kinds of lines and hearts.
2. I will experiment with drawing straight, curved and
zig zag lines.
3. I will experiment with drawing a heart with a
combination of curved and straight
lines
4. I will take part in creating a drawing of a heart and
drawing different lines throughout
my paper.

STAGE THREE: Opportunities to Learn

Student Assessment:
1. Students will construct different types of lines (straight,
curved and zig zag lines) and
hearts on practice paper.
2. Students will construct a heart and use lines throughout
their art piece.

Introduction/Hook Watch You tube video: https://youtu.be/xScqoekMK40 or listen to the book, Art by, Patrick
McDonnell.
Procedure and products
1. Watch You Tube video or listen to book Art, and recall
the different lines.
2. Powerpoint, show picture of the heart project
3. Talk about the lines they see in the picture
4. Students each receive a practice piece of paper and a
black crayon.
5. Students practice drawing different lines.
6. Direct instruction of drawing a heart
7. Students practice drawing hearts, must draw at least 10
hearts, continue drawing different lines on their papers
8. Students each receive their project paper
9. Direct instruction on how to create the project on
whiteboard.
10.Use powerpoint of a heart picture as a model on the
whiteboard, along with my demonstration piece from
direct instruction.

Differentiation/Accommodations/Modifications
1. Powerpoint and demonstration piece will be a visual
reminder for students
2. Alyric, and Mekina can draw only 5 hearts if time is not
sufficient-must practice at least one line of each type
3. students can use additional table time to finish their
work

Closure: 4 students compliment other students on how they did working.
