MovementEducation

Welcome to my wonderful parents!!!

This PowerPoint will explain why I Miss Rayann of class 1R will use
movement education in my PDHPE lessons. The PowerPoint will give you
a comprehensive look at what is movement education, the importance of
movement education for your child and it positive effects on them.
ENJOY!

What is movement education

Movement education is strand of teaching which educates
students to develop their gross moto skills through physical
activity. Gross Moto skills requires the body to use large muscles in
the body to perform tasks like jumping running and balancing. This
helps your children with continuous tasks such as riding a bike
swimming and running.

The main aim of Movement Education.

The main aim of movement education is to present students with a
range of problem solving movement challenges which gets them
exploring, moving and understanding their body and its functions.
Movement education works with the whole child, physically, mentally,
socially and even academically (Kogan, pg2, 2004). It works sequentially
as it builds from fine skills to more complex skills as your child grows and
matures. Movement education is not only focused on physical health
rather it incorporates child centred approaches with instructions, gets
children thinking outside the square and allows your child to feel
successful in every activity (Rae Pica,2012).

My rational- why I will use

movement education for 1R
Children running around very excited for movement class is the very same reason why
I get excited- because it allows them to work together, play, move their bodies, build
friendships, develop their gross moto skills and use their whole body to actively be
part of the class. I believe that movement education doesnt only work on your child's
physical needs rather it assist them in concentration, helps with burn off extra energy,
teaches them fundamental movement skills that students dont learn naturally such as
dodge, leap and over arm throw. Teaching our students movement education helps
them in their latter life health, by teaching them positive health practices by
movement and physical activity. It will support the NSW syllabus strand of growth and
development, active lifestyles and games and sports. Teaching movement education
will allow me develop DAS1.7 your child's locomotor skills at different speeds, eg walk
fast, slowly, heavily and ALS1.6 engagement in range of fundamental movement skills.

Strengths of movement education in

class 1R..
Movement education has main positive strengths for your child which includes;
child centred approaches
builds upon communication skills through group work.
Involves the whole child physically and mentally
Works on a child's spatial awareness and balance
It allows me as the teacher to take assessments of the children with out taking out
fun education time. I will be able to note problems with attention skills as if they
child is lacking good tracking skills which is used in English it will show in their
movement classes. I will be able to analyse social skills through their environment
with other children. furthermore it will movement education will highlight
students individual learning styles through leadership roles and following roles.

Here's a video that will show what your child will be

involved in and how much fun they have in movement
classes.
