Brief: To create a geometric craft piece using mix media techniques on the themes that the artist

have chosen.
Title: Independence (This is working title that will be developed) other themes could
be my life, whats my art about
Aim (for the 9 days overall): Using line, shape, colour and pattern through mix mediums
to form scultural colaberated crafts on the theme of independence.
Objectives: To use the skills demonstrated in class to direct the artists in their own
independent work. To create a collaboration piece from all the work created through the
use of mix media techniques and applications.
Outcomes: Artist will be able to:
Create a piece of work that represents the theme of independence.
Using mix media through paint and collage to form their own work.
Consider materials that best represent their theme/concept.

Methodology:
Using demonstration and 1to1
development work. The artist will engage
with the tutors on their own independent
practices. visual artist and resources will
be provided by the tutor to strength the
understanding of the outcomes required
Opening routine- introduction and
welcoming of the artist to the studio
space (5mins)
Introduction to tutors(5-10mins)
Introduction and discussions to the theme
and brief explanation to the tutors ideas
of independence(independence is a
working title, development of title will
need to be consider for better outcomes
of imagery)
Body of Work
Explanation (10mins) due to the service
asking that students make their own

Critical points
Discuss with personal consideration to your
own work. Make instructed points to how you
made the work and why you used the
materials (example) Katie shows a portrait of
herself with string and tread for hair. Katie can
discuss how the different colour materials
could be the high lights and shadows of her
hair. Always stimulate with the visual aid and
consider all elements that could be involved.
For your demonstration consider the disability
and work around it. Once again consider the
visual aids construction.
Use your 1to1 time to evaluate your approach
and your communication skills. Make point of
getting the artist to tell you that they
understand the steps made in the demo.
Never consider that they have got the
information.
Always refer back to your finished piece as a
point of understanding

independent work it is difficult to create a

complete theme, but with the use of
games and visuals. Artists might be
willing to involve themselves with themes
that that tutor find stimulating.
Discuss with artist about the work they
are making and ask why they find it
interesting (this will allow tutors to
consider changes to the next lessons)
For artist that are unsure, games such as
paper predict can help stimulate and
allows discussion of the imagery that
creates an outcome.(key words that can
be included)
Family
Heros
Good news
Ritual activity
Discuss the images made by tutors.
(Providing visual aids for understanding).
Identify the techniques that will be
demonstrated throughout the class with
the use of the visual aid.
Demonstration
Each tutor will provide a different
demonstrations experience at their table.
This will commindate for artists in their
own decision process (Celine).
Demonstration of materials in mix media
-Collage and paint (5-10mins the most)
-Collagraph
-Rubbing for different textures
-Application methods
Construct the sculptural piece and ask for
assistance with gluing from the artist.
Work as a team effort

Katie- talk about your practice and discuss

challenges that you have come across. This
allows for critical thinking and interactions.
Ask the artists how you got to that point .State
questions that you know youll get the right
answer.
Mark- talk about your practice and discuss
challenges that you have come across. This

Ask the artists how you got to that point .State
questions that you know youll get the right
answer.
If you find that the artist is not engaging. Make
a point to the other tutors. Include in other art
based practice.

Assistance 1 and a half hour to 2 hours

Cleaning time, half an hour

Class Evaluation ( 15 mins):

Did the artist engage with the tutors and
the materials they supplied at the class?
Did the artist incorporate the
demonstration techniques within their
own independent work?
Can the piece be incorporated into the
craft piece?

Ritual Activities (Differentiation

activities):
Talk and discussion
Creating small piece that can be
incorporated into the image
Use clay to illustrate their ideas (physical
disability)
Music activities (to be discussed in
relation to the other artist in the class
room)
Closing routine (5mins)
Summaries what we have learned and
ask about the artists opinion on their
work. Ask artists to discuss what is in the
image.
Thank the artist for their co-operation and
their work
Health and Safety
Points to remember and emphasise.
Safety clothing, aprons, gloves etc.
. Assist with scissors (physical disability)

separately by each individual
student;
Student evaluation at the end
of each day with supervisor.
Ask for feedback.

Allow for an hour to two hours for creating their pieces around the theme.
If there is time to spare. Allow artist to continue with their own work, this
allows the mentors to get to know the artist and assist with the artist own
