I believe I currently possess the skills to be a good, effective teacher. I am passionate, interested and hard
working in my approach to planning and teaching. I plan carefully, considering learning outcomes for every
lesson. I also continually evaluate the unit plan and the pace at which the class is progressing.
In terms of what I need in order to develop, I really just need practice teaching. The more time spent
teaching, the more time I have to increase and improve my teaching strategies. Part of effective teaching is
knowing the students and their capabilities. This can really only occur when teaching the class full time. A
good knowledge of the students abilities helps to guide effective planning for learning and engagement. I
could benefit from learning more about differentiating. I have not witnessed many teachers doing this
effectively on my placements.

Using both tables, what are the main reasons for your high ratings? (brief response only)
I believe I am highly capable and ready to teach. In some subject areas on my placement I was more
knowledgeable than my Mentors. I put a great deal of thought into how to make lessons engaging and
effective and I relate well to students.

Using both tables, what are the main reasons for your low ratings? (brief response only)
I gave low ratings for things that I did not have an opportunity to do during the placement. I also gave lower
ratings for areas that related to strategies. I feel I still need to build a repertoire of strategies in which to draw
from.
