One Implication of utilizing social media to reach students in school

Social media is such an important part of modern society especially for kids and teens. In
most schools phones and mobile devices have been banned from being used during the
school day and social media websites like twitter and facebook have been blocked on school
computers. Schools are beginning to take a different approach by introducing social media
into the educational system.
One implication of utilizing social media to reach students in schools is to encourage more
participation. Students who do not participate regularly in class may feel they can express

their thoughts through social media. Although this should not completely replace the
classroom participation it can help build the students confidence and encourage them to find
their voice enables them to participate in class.
The relevance of using social media to teach in the 21st century high school classroom
If you are a teacher, you are likely to always seek ways to get your students excited about
learning. One method is through social media. Students are using these technologies in their
personal lives, so it makes sense to leverage them for teaching and learning. Social media
provides an avenue for students to easily contact one another regarding projects, group
assignments or help on assignments.
If the teacher needs to direct students to a particular online resources they can easily share
site through social media sites like twitter. If the teacher wants the class to visit a particular
site all they have to do is tweet the website and the entire class can view it with just one click.

How will this new way of teaching impact traditional pedagogical norms?
In education, technology should be viewed as a medium for pedagogical development. Social
media does not aim to replace traditional learning, but can supplement the landscape of
traditional learning by adding more tools at its disposal.
Social media creates a new community where teachers and students do not have to
communicate by means of the traditional face-to-face classroom environment. The impact of
social media for teaching are reflected by the teaching-learning styles and teacher-student
roles.

Explore one implication of embracing this method from the teachers perspective
Social media is as important for teachers as it is for others. While, social media is a handy
tool in the classroom, it can be as beneficial outside the classroom. There are a number of
ways that one can benefit from social media.
Teachers can also use social networking to connect with teachers and other persons from
other country. This can help them get accurate information on other countries and not just use
content from the internet that is often outdated.
School networks allow teachers to share idea with each other. Comparing notes on classroom
teaching techniques and learning styles can help you enhance the learning experience in the
classroom. One can also share lesson plans and visual ideas
