LighttomoderaterainshitthehigherreachesofthemountainsintheeveningonTuesdayandswepttheplainswithMunsyariinthehills
receiving11mmofrainsandDehradunintheplainsrecording7mmofshowers,DirectorMeTdepartmentVikramSinghsaid.Theexactdata
ofrainatotherplacesisyettobecompiledbutalmostallthedistrictsinthehillsaswellasintheplainshavereceivedrainsinvarying
degrees,hesaid.
Itisgoingtosupplementthefirefightingoperationsunderwayinamajorwayasitwillsettletheplumesofsmokerisingfromflamingforests
whichhadreducedvisibilitybesidesmoisturisingthewoodswhichislikelytobringdownthenumberoffreshfireincidents,theMeT
directorsaid.
AccordingtolatestdatareleasedbyPrincipalConservatorofforestBPGupta,3465.94hectaresofforestlandliesravagedbyforestfires.
ThetollhasalsorisentosevenwithafirewatchersdeathonTuesdaynightduetosuffocationfromsmokerisingfromforestsinMatiyali
