Stephen Edwin King is a horror fiction writer. He was born on
September 21, 1947 in Portland, Maine. His pen names are Richard Bachman
and John Swithen. After the age of 2 King was raised in a single parent
household; his father one day told the family that he was going to buy a
pack of cigarettes and never returned. King graduated from the University
of Maine with a Bachelor of Arts in English.
Stephen King is known for a lot of his books and short stories. His most
famous works are Carrie, Cujo, Children of the Corn, The Body, The Pet
Sematary, Misery, The Green Mile, and The Mist and Thinner. Some of his
works are based off of real things that have happened throughout his life. He
sets a quota to write at least 2000 words per day. Stephen King favorite
books he wrote were The Shining and The Stand.
Stephen King used to be addicted to drugs and alcohol back in the
80ss. In 2001 Stephen King was hit by a van while crossing the road, the
medication briefly causing him to become addicted to drugs again. After
that accident he thought about retiring from writing.
Stephen King famous quotes, Monsters are real, and ghosts are
real too. They live inside us, and sometimes, they win. Fiction is the
truth inside the lie. We make up horrors to help us cope with the
real ones. Stephen King was influence by the great Richard Matheson.
Stephen King has won many awards throughout his life time. He won the
National Medal of Arts, Pulitzer Prize, and many more.
