Archibald MacLeish was

born in Glencoe, Illinois in 1892.


MacLeish attended Yale, served
in World War I, and then attended
Harvard Law School. He
practiced law for many years
before packing up his family and
moving to Paris to dedicate all of
his time to writing. He served as
Librarian of Congress from 1929
to 1944. MacLeish is a three time
Pulitzer Prize winner, along with
many other prestigious award.
MacLeishs diversity, family life,
politics, and war experience all
affected the themes and tones of
his writing.
