Potentially results in violence

Christy Zink: Personal Story

Controversially had a late term abortion

Her son was found to have dev. issues
Only one side of his brain had developed
Lots of emotional turmoil, but pulled through
Women and their families must be
able to trust their doctors and retain
their access to medical care when they
most need it.

Lucy Flores: Personal Story

In high school, Lucy had an abortion

Ran for lieutenant governor
Felt ashamed
Received major backlash
Lost race by 26 points
I dont regret it because I am here
making a difference, at least in my
mind... they [adolescents] can do things
to not be in the situation I was in, but to
prevent.

Amelia Bonow: Personal Story

Posted to social media about her abortion with
#ShoutYourAbortion
Felt it would give others courage and confidence
Lots of cyber-hate
Shocked and confused
A shout is not a celebration or a
value judgement; its the opposite of
a whisper, of silence.

Loren Clark-Moe: Personal Story

Worked 6 years with the government

Realized she was pregnant
Wanted to receive an abortion
Was told it wouldnt be paid for by the government
Had to pay $480
Felt it was the right decision for her
...the mission of preserving my health
rests solely with me and my doctors
requires no interference from my
government

Action Plan: To Inform

Abortion is a serious topic that must discussed in the open and
not hidden
Most medical schools are not even talking about it.

2nd year medical student received one hour lecture on birth control with
two powerpoint slides on abortion.

Discuss more on the topic of contraceptives, birth control, and

abortion in our school systems
Most people will build a new perspective on
the topic if they have more information

Conclusion

Continuous topic that is argued throughout society

Many adolescents/women get impregnated unintentionally
Usually cannot support the baby financially, or themselves
Those involved in a rape crime, molestation, or incest, are
legally allowed to get an abortion due to the moral aspect
People who willingly choose to have an abortion are looked
down upon
