What did you learn about teaching or learning from this lesson? Discuss your observation focus, and the theory you have studied in your TESOL classes. Consider the three
levels of teacher reflection (surface, pedagogical, critical). (100-300 words)

I focused on the classroom management for this observation report. T utilized one on one
interview type activity instead of using a pair or small group classroom management. As
far as I observed, pair or small group works were more common in IEP classes, so I was
somewhat surprised to see this T using this method. However, the class was pretty small,
and since it was the listening and speaking class, his approach worked effectively. Individual T to S interaction gave fair amounts of SS talking time for each SS while a pair or
small group speaking exercises might hinder some SS talking.

!
!

What activities/techniques from this class do you want to remember for your own
teaching practice? Discuss your future teaching environment and your students needs/
goals. Discuss specific ways in which you could adapt and apply the techniques and
methods you saw. (100-300 words)

T brought a lot of positive reinforcements into the classroom. T encouraged SS by giving

positive comments and compliments. Also, T showed appreciation to SS whenever SS did
what he asked for. In addition, T was substituting for another T, so it is understandable
that he does not remember SSs names, but he anyway apologized for SS not knowing all
SS names. Like this T did, I would like to respect my SS by appreciating them in my future classroom. Personally, I liked being respectful as an S thus I would like my SS to
feel the same way. Thus, I will practice showing my appreciation to SS as I learned from
this observation.
