Genesis 1

(Creation during the course of several days)


God created the heaven, ocean, day, night
(There was nothing before God, only darkness)
"And God said 'Let there be light : and there was light.'"
God created the earth and everything in it (all animals and plants)
Genesis 2
Finished creation of earth after 7th day (Sunday, why it's sacred)
Created man
Created Eden (paradise)
Took rib (Adam's) and created woman (Eve)
Pison & Havilah, Gihon & Ethiopia, Hiddekel & Assyria, and
Eupharates (the rivers surrounding Eden)
DO NOT EAT TREE OF KNOWLEDGE
"...she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of
Man." (Women not created as equals from the beginning?)
"And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not
ashamed."
Genesis 3
Serpent tells Eve to eat fruit (because she wouldn't die, she would gain
intense knowledge) and she gives Adam some too
They realize they are naked (feel shame for first time)
God punishes man and woman, especially woman (??? Why not
serpent?)
"16Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy
conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire
shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. "
(God punishes woman with birth and the need to rely on a husband)
Genesis 4
Eve gives birth to Cain and Abel
They both offer gifts to God (Cain : "fruit of the ground" Abel :

"firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof")


God favored Abel's gift, didn't respect Cain's (Cain's faith fell from God)
Cain kills Abel, God punishes Cain
Can no longer till the earth, marked with sign that will grant vengeance
to the one who kills him
Goes to next town (??? Next town? Who created this??) and starts
family, expands population of earth

Genesis 6
Earth's population expanding
God sees every human (Except Noah and his family) as evil
(This is hard to believe how was every single human filled with evil,
even children?)
Decides to destroy what he created
(Is this a warning of some sort? Do these first people set an example?)
God commands Noah to build ark
Genesis 7
Two by two animals go on ark (How did they all get along?)
Rains for 40 days and nights
Flooded for 150 days
Genesis 8
Dove checks to see if there is still water on earth for Noah (sent by God)
When water is cleared it returns w/an olive branch in its mouth
^^^^symbol of peace today
When reached land, built altar for God for thanks/respect (God
satisfied)
Genesis 9
God allows them to eat anything they please except kin
God places bow in the clouds to remember the promise between him
and man
Promise : he won't ever flood the earth again to kill everything
Noah gets drunk
^^^but isn't he the best of men? Wouldn't he not drink if God saw him

fit to survive the flood?

Genesis 11: 1-9

The Tower of Babel


We all spoke one language, were very united, tried to build a tower to
heaven
God mixed up our speech
^^^ (from previous teaching) lesson: you cannot reach heaven so easily
without trials
Genesis 18: 16-33
God explains to Abraham why he destroyed a city
Genesis 19: 1-26
Angels warned Lot that Sodom and Gomorrah were to be destroyed by
the Lord
Lot proved his worthiness
Escaped with family
Genesis 21
Isaac is born to Sarah and Abraham(100)
Is weaned
Mother finds him a wife from Egypt
Abraham builds a well
Genesis 22: 1-19
God tells Abraham to offer up his son (as sacrifice)
Abe does it without question
God sees his unyielding faith and rewards him
Genesis 25: 19-24
Isaac has kids with Rebekah (twins, Esau and Jacob)
Jacob tricks Esau while he is dying to give up his birthright
^^^cruel? Unfair?

Wins, Esau resents him for it


Genesis 29
Jacob travels to claim birthright (?)
Meets Rachel (his niece)
Loves her, works seven years to earn her from father
They didn't want second born to be married first
God made Leah (sister to Rachel) pregnant several times because he
saw she was "hated"
Genesis 30
Rachel jealous of sister's children (couldn't conceive)
Told Jacob to have sex with her maid to have kid

Leah gave her maid to Jacob as wife (bore him two sons)
Jacob returns home with an abundance of cattle, camels, etc. because
he served Laban's daughters
Genesis 31
Joseph is the most favored of all the sons^^^ (has a cool colorful coat)
Brothers resent him for that
Joseph is a dreamer
His brothers plot to kill him, but sell him instead (so he is sold
somewhere in Egypt)
Dip his coat in blood, fabricate a story, their father mourns his false
death
Exodus 1
People of Israel feared in Egypt, turned into slaves
Midwives were instructed to kill israel sons when born
They did not fear the Pharaoh
Exodus 2
In the house of Levi son was born
Survived by being hid in the bushes/reeds
Daughter of the Pharaoh spots him and takes him home, makes him

her son (Moses)


Exodus 3
God appeared to Moses as a burning bush
Told him to free the people of Israel from Egypt
Gave him the basic instructions to do so
Exodus 7
Moses and Aaron ask Pharaoh to free the Israelies
Pharaoh doesn't believe in their God, refuses
Promises to plague the land of Egypt with horrors (such as blood water)
Exodus 8
Let my people go or the frogs will invade
Let my people go or the lice will invade
L.M.P.G.O the flies will invade
(All happen, people not let go, Pharaoh has hard heart)
Moses asks God for it to stop, people still not let go
Exodus 9
L.M.P.G.O all the cows (except Hebrew's) will die
"(1)Let my people go, that they may serve me."
^^^Hebrews get the short end of the deal, either way they serve
someone
^^^Must be better to serve something you actually want to serve instead
of slavery (anyone would gladly serve anyone else if they escape slavery)
L.M.P.G.O God will unleash all of the plagues unto the Egyptians
L.M.P.G.O God will unleash hail upon Egypt
Moses took pity and asked God to cease the hail
Exodus 10
L.M.P.G.O. God will unleash the locusts
^^^Why is Pharaoh holding out? His people are suffering
"(20)But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let
the children of Israel go."
^^^Why is God doing this? Isn't this creating problems for himself ? Is

the Pharaoh a lesson?


"(27)But the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, and he would not let
them go."
Exodus 11
One last plague: all first borns shall did, no matter what status of
species (except the Hebrews)
"(10)And Moses and Aaron did all these wonders before Pharaoh:
and the LORD hardened Pharaoh's heart, so that he would not let the
children of Israel go out of his land."

Exodus 12
Hebrews must mark their doors with lamb blood and eat it specifically
to escape last plague
"Passover"
Children of Israel escape, begin journey
Exodus 13: 17-20
"(19)And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly
sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye
shall carry up my bones away hence with you."
Exodus 14
Hebrews are escaping, Egyptians close behind
Moses parts the ocean (God does it)
Hebrews cross the ocean (So does the Egyptian army
Moses crashes ocean on Egyptians after Hebrews are safe
"(31)And Israel saw that great work which the LORD did upon the
Egyptians: and the people feared the LORD, and believed the LORD,
and his servant Moses."
Judges 16
Samson is strong, has enemies
Delilah told to ask him what his weakness was (He loved her)
"(7)And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs

that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man."
^^^lies, is smart
She asks again, he lies again (bound with unoccupied rope will trap
him)
Another time, this time with a pin
Finally tells her the truth (cut his hair)
She sells him out
^^^he loved her but she only wanted the money offered for him
Captured by the Philistines
He killed himself and all of the lords

1 Samuel 17
The story of David and Goliath
(Goliath Philistinian champion)
"(39And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go;
for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with
these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him."
^^^Didnt prove himself worthy of the armor, so he humbly went with
five stones and a slingshot (Shows how different David is from Goliath)
"(47)And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with
sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD's, and he will give you into
our hands."
^^^faith is greater than strength?
1 Kings 3
Solomon son of David
God allowed one wish to be granted
"(9)Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy
people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to
judge this thy so great a people?"
^^^God is pleased by his answer because it is not in vain or greed
"(28)And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had judged;
and they feared the king: for they saw that the wisdom of God was in
him, to do judgment."
Job 1 and 2

"(1)There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that
man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed
evil."

Satan tests his perfectness
God lets him destroy Job's life to test
Job is still faithful through everything
Jonah 1 and 2
God tells Jonah to go to a city to confess his evilness but goes on a boat
instead
God causes storm, Jonah thrown off ship
Eaten by fish, in belly for three days and nights
Jonah confesses and fish throws him up
^^^God is everywhere and controls everything
Matthew 1: 18-25
Mary has a child with the Holy Ghost
Named Jesus, will save people from their sins
Matthew 2
Three wise men follow the star to the newborn King (it was above
them)
The lord tells Joseph to take them to Egypt (mother and child) because
they are in danger of Herod
Herod dies and God tells Joseph to take his family to Israel
Matthew 4
Satan tempts Jesus with food and the need for help
Jesus doesn't give in

Matthew 5
3Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for
they shall be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of
God.
10Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and
shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Matthew 6
Jesus sets down the laws of fasting, hypocrisy, and prayers

Jesus sets down the laws of judging
"(15)Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they are ravening wolves."
"(24)Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth
them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a
rock:"
^^^follow the sayings of Jesus and life will be good
Matthew 10
12 disciples appointed
"(1)And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them
power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner
of sickness and all manner of disease."
Gives them debriefing of they should and shouldn't do
Matthew 14
Herodias seduces Herod (different Herod) to kill John the Baptist
Jesus goes off, people follow him (and he heals their sick)

Turns 5 loaves and 2 fish so they feed 500


12 disciples go on boat (JESUS WALKS ON WATER)
Matthew 26
Jesus will be crucified (he announces it)
People and priests plot to arrest him
At the The Last Super, Jesus says someone will betray him, (Judas)
"(52)Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place:
for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword."
^^^Cant fight and expect peace, must go peacefully to find peace
Jesus committed blasphemy, punished him w/ death
Matthew 27
Judas hangs himself in guilt/grief
Jesus is prisoner
Crowd wants him crucified
Jesus hits rock bottom (crown of thorns, taunted, abused, and finally
CRUCIFIED)
Place his body in a tomb
Matthew 28
Marys go to tomb
Angel greets them, says Jesus has resurrected
Marys tell the 11 disciples
Jesus tells them to spread his teachings
"(20)Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded
you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
Amen."
