PRODUCING FOOD AT HOME TASK SHEET

ASSESSMENT TASK: You are to explore food production at home by interviewing a family
member and write a recount, and share your familys favourite recipe using the produced
food.
Step 1:

Complete record sheet What do I know?

Step 2:

Draft a range of questions to interview a family member about the foods they might
produce and the technologies, materials, tools and equipment involved

Step 3:

Interview a family member and complete My Interview Record sheet

Step 4:

Photograph the food and any materials, tools or technologies used in producing the
food (i.e., seeds, fertiliser etc.)

Step 5:

Write a recount of the interview (see box below)

Step 6:

Write out a copy of your familys favourite recipe using the food you produce to add to
the class cookbook (use worksheet).
Note: foods you produce at home could
include growing a herb, growing vegetables,
fruit or nuts, preserving fruit, making jams,
baking bread, making wine, making cheese,
raising cattle for meat etc.
Your recount of the interview will include the following:

Title:

name the food.

Setting: who you spoke to, where and when you spoke to them, what the food
produced is.
Events: how the food is produced including what tools, equipment, technologies
are used.
Ending: explain why the food is produced at home, how producing your own food
at home makes you feel and if think caring for the environment is important to
producing food.
I will describe the process in sequence
