tions from business leaders and students, which gives him the chance
to hear about their thoughts and experiences, which he in turn uses
to develop plans to create an even brighter future for Michiganders
today and for generations to come, Snyders office said. It often leads
to the Governor sharing stories about northern Michigan when he is
traveling to other areas of the state.
I think its great; I think its a wonderful event, Snyder said after
the 39th Annual Governors Breakfast. Its really about one generation helping another and how they can learn from one another and in
a form that brings that convergence back.
One of the hallmarks of the Annual Governors Breakfast is when area high school students ask the governor questions. Here is Governor Rick Snyder with the students that asked questions
during the breakfast in 2012.
Senior Living
Snyder pointed out that northern Michigan has experienced tremendous success in the areas of skilled trades growth and economic development. The Wexford-Missaukee Career Tech Center education programs in northern Michigan are particularly impressive, and in terms
of overall education some exciting things are happening in the area
that deserve to be highlighted and used as a model for how others can
achieve success statewide, Snyder said.
Following his stop in Cadillac, Governor Snyder penned a guest
column for the Cadillac News to reiterate the importance of northern
Michigan and the message from the Governors Breakfast.
Recently, I had the opportunity to speak at the 39th Annual Cadillac
Governors Breakfast. I addressed members of the business community as well as local officials and high school students about Michigans
economic comeback as well as the success of various businesses in the
region, Snyder wrote.

ting them better faster? Did you meet clinical needs? That is how we get paid now.
Again she pointed to the need to have partnerships and mergers to achieve those goals.
With the ACA, hospitals and health care providers are not able to name their own prices
but instead about 90 percent of payment
is based on performing the service and the
other 10 to 20 percent could be based on if
the patient had a great experience.
When it comes to obstacles, Smith said the
No. 1 issue locally is attracting new doctors,
both primary care and specialists, to the
area. She cited several reasons why it seems
to be more difficult to get the doctors that
are needed.
They included the added responsibility of running a business as a local provider
as well as the fact that many new doctors
would rather work for a bigger organization
