Notes:
1. 19 Feb 1941. Hitler ordered immediate assembly of one trial Pz.Kpfw.III with 5cm Kw.K
L/60. On 19 Mar 1941 this vehicle was demonstrated successfully at Alkett in BerlinBorsigwalde.
2. The Ausfuerung J and L with 5cm Kw.K L/60 were identical. Between 28 Mar and 3 Apr
1942 the L designation was introduced and applied retrospectively to earlier J
models.
3. Vorpanzer (spaced armour). Hitler directed the up-armouring as a result of experience
in North Africa and the decision was promulgated by Keitel on 7 Jul 1941. Hull
armour was 20mm held at 100mm standoff and the turret plate (also 20mm) had a
140mm standoff. Daimler-Benz compelted the first installation in Sep 1941 (Fgst.Nr
68118) (probabley hull onlyturret armour was first applied in Mar-Apr 1942).
