British had successful working tanks and wanted to bring down the German
Hindenburg Line. With the tanks British also wanted to see how effective the tanks
were to the Germans defensive wall.

Second Battle of the Marne - July 15th-August 6th, 1918

Second Battle of the Marne was the tipping point of WWI. It was the last major German
conflict, and was the first victory in 1918 for the Allies.

Cause and Effect


Causes - Germany's failure of the Spring Offensive lead to the Second Battle of the Marne. The Battle of
the Marne was the Germans Empires last chance to win the First World War.
Effect - Allies victory at Marne lead them to go on the offensive and took Germany out of France.

Pearl Harbor - December 7th, 1941

November, 1941 U.S. and Japan had a


negotiation and if it failed Japan would start
war. Roosevelt focused his attention on
Europe which rejected the negotiation. Which
lead to Japan deciding to attack.

Cause and Effect


Causes - 1940 U.S. banned Japan from exporting steel, scrap iron, because Japan took Northern French
Indochina. July, 1941 U.S. and Britain banned Japan from buying oil, eventually stopping their army.
Effect -That attack crippled U.S. Navy in Hawaii, and brought U.S. into World War II.

Operation Overlord- Was the Allied invasion


against Germany, the invasion was on two
fronts so Germany would fail trying to stop
two fronts. Leading the Allies to victory

Cause and Effect


Causes - France was occupied by Germany and Roosevelt has been waiting to get France back from
Germany since 1942.
Effects - Operation Overlord was the start of the end of Germany and Hitler(June, 1944), after Operation
Overlord Hitler ordered an attack at the Bulge in December, 1944.
