Anaphora is the repetition of a certain word or phrase at the beginning of successive lines of
writing or speech. It can be used in novels and short stories, but it's most commonly seen
in poetry, essays, and formal speeches.
Inversion, also known as anastrophe, is a literary technique in which the normal order of
words is reversed in order to achieve a particular effect of emphasis or meter.
Asyndeton is derived from a Greek word asyndeton which means unconnected. It is a stylistic
device used in literature and poetry to intentionally eliminate conjunctions between the phrases
and in the sentence, yet maintain the grammatical accuracy.
Antithesis is two terms, phrases or ideas that contrast or have opposite meanings. Love, for
example, is the antithesis of hate. Young is the antithesis of old.

Onomatopoeia is a fancy term for a word that mimics a sound. For example:

buzz
Alliteration is the repetition of consonant sounds at the beginning of words. Simply knowing
the definition, however, is not sufficient.
Repetition is a literary device that repeats the same words or phrases a few times to make an
idea clearer.
