Candidate Position on Choice

Ruths List Florida supports progressive, pro-choice, Democratic women running for office in
Florida. We define pro-choice as agreeing with the constitutional right to choose guaranteed
by Roe v. Wade.

The central premise of Roe v. Wade is that a woman has the right to terminate a
pregnancy before viability and after viability if, in consultation with her doctor, an abortion is
necessary to preserve her life or health.

Do you support federal and state funding of abortions for poor women?

There have been numerous attempts in state legislatures and in the U.S. Congress to
restrict access to abortion. Floridas constitution protects the right to reproductive choice as
fundamental. Yet, a recent ballot initiative and other laws have restricted this right
significantly, especially for young women and low-income women.
Do you favor upholding current law and oppose further restrictions to reproductive
