BAR received Seafarer’s Quest 2015 interim report for Permit 2014.04.
After careful review, BAR requires that Seafarer’s Quest addresses the following concerns and questions and
resubmit a more complete interim report.
As per 1A-31.036, archaeological reporting must follow Rule 1A-46 F.A.C. requirements. (Please see
attached document),
‘The purpose of an interim report is to detail the work completed by the 1A-31 participant in the previous 6
months. Permit 2014.04 was executed on 7/28/14. An interim report was due on 1/28/15, and another was due
on 7/28/15,3) Reports must contain useful maps. The map provided is illegible and does not contain required elements
(scale, key, north arrow). Please provide maps that depict the areas investigated by divers. Additionally, please
provide maps that depict the location and identification of both historic and modem debris. Finally, please
provide maps that support the claims of a shipwreck debris trail.
4) Please provide a section that outlines and describes the search methodology employed. Did divers employ
circle searches, or parallel transects? Did divers employ the use of underwater metal detectors or handheld
‘magnetometers? Did divers employ hydro-probes or induction dredges?
5) Please include pictures of every artifact and every EO located.
6) Please amend the table of targets to include the following information: gamma reading of magnetic anomaly,
water depth, identification and description of modern debris, and method used to locate target (probe, dredge,
ete.).
7) Some targets were identified as NO FIND. Please explain.
8) Please provide maps and sketches of identified ship’s timbers.
9) Finally, please indicate a tentative completion date for project work under 2014.04 (that is systematically
surveyed, thoroughly mapped, and reported).
Thank you for your compliance. Mary
