BI STRATEGY OF THE COMPANY

FedEx uses SenseAware platform(launched in
2009)
Adding real-time data and notifications to its
infrastructure at a more granular level.
It has a variety of sensors and radio chips that allow it
to detect temperature, location, light and report back
if a package (and its contents) hits a problem.

SenseAware device
dropped into high-value packages
monitor the package for 96 hours
constantly broadcasting information back to FedEx,
and can generate a lot of data

BI STRATEGY OF THE
COMPANY
FedEx combines a GPS sensor device and
a web-based collaboration platform:
SenseAware
Precise temperature readings
Information about a shipments exact location
Notification when a shipment is opened or if
the contents have been exposed to light.
Real-time alerts and analytics between trusted
parties regarding the above vital signs of a
shipment

PREVALENT BI STRATEGY IN THE

INDUSTRY
The main issues that drive BI initiatives are
Increased global operations complexity
Lack of visibility into the supply chain
Need to improve top-line revenue
Increased exposure to risk in the supply chain
Fluctuating fuel costs
Import/export restrictions and challenges, and
Thin profit margins are driving the need for
businesses to clearly understand all the factors
that affect their bottom line

Cadec's PowerVue tool

Exception-based reports, such as planned-vs.-actual routes, help
managers quickly where the malfunction have been occurred.
Integration of real-time data provides

enterprise-class forecasting of delivery times,

improves asset utilization and
accelerates cash flow.
Here again, the system is easily customizable, so Cadec can add or
change data fields to handle a fleet's specific needs.

Other core feature enhancements to PowerVue include:

Enhanced scorecard capabilities that allow organizations to graphically
track and report on driver and vehicle performance.
Enhanced mapping and trip replay, which offers a distinctive
combination view of speed, RPM and vehicle trail on a single screen. It
allows fleet managers to take a virtual ride-along and drill down to view
granular trip detail, including the ability to recreate accidents.

PREVALENT BI STRATEGY IN THE

INDUSTRY
Detailed monitoring across the entire supply chain, such as on-time
delivery
Better understanding of fuel and accessorial costs at every level in supply
chain
Detailed evaluation of vendor performance of on-time deliveries and work
order performance.
Review volume of work orders by motor carrier and time between
assigned and accepted to identify key partners, consolidate workload to
better performing receivers, and improve equipment utilization.
The ability to drill down into shipment history for decision-making and
continuous improvement.
Visibility into events that impact on-time delivery and asset utilization for
better decision-making and risk mitigation.
Insight into what drives costs and profit within the supply chain so
managers allocate resources properly and know where to make
improvements.
To update strategy quickly to stay ahead of the competition.
