Races
Brown bear:
- Large size
- Brown bear base land speed is 30 bear feet
- 1 extra feat at first level, because brown bears are quick to master new tasks and
are varied in talents
- 4 extra skill points at first level, 1 extra skill point at each level beyond first, since
brown bears are versatile and capable
Squat bear:
- +2 Constitution, -2 Charisma. Squat bears are stout and tough but tend to be gruf
and reserved
- Large size
- Squat bear base land speed is 20 bear feet, but are not slowed down by armour or
encumbrance
- Darkvision
- Stability: Squat bears are exceptionally stable on their feet. A squat bear gains a
+4 bonus on ability checks made to resist being bull rushed or tripped when
standing on the ground (but not when climbing, flying, riding, or otherwise not
standing firmly on the ground).
- +2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison: Squat bears are hardy and
resistant to toxins.
- +2 racial bonus on saving throws against spells and spell-like efects: Squat bears
have an innate resistance to magic spells.
Tree bear:
- +2 Dexterity, 2 Constitution: Tree bears are graceful but frail.
- Large size
- Tree bear base land speed is 30 feet.
- +2 racial saving throw bonus against enchantment spells or efects.
- Low-light Vision
- +2 racial bonus on Listen, Search, and Spot checks.
- +4 racial bonus on Climb checks: Tree bears are good at climbing trees.
Fey bear:
- +2 Intelligence, 2 Strength: Fey bears are smart, but they are smaller and
therefore not as strong as larger bears.
- Medium size
- Fey bear base land speed is 20 bear feet.
- Low-light Vision
- +2 racial bonus on saving throws against illusions: Fey bears are familiar with
illusions of all kinds.
- Add +1 to the Difficulty Class for all saving throws against illusion spells cast by
fey bears.

- +2 racial bonus on Listen checks: Fey bears have keen ears.

Polar Bear
- +2 Wisdom, -2 Dexterity: A polar bears strong willpower makes up for his slower
reflexes.
- Large size
- Polar bear base land speed is 30 bear feet.
- Low-light Vision
- Cold resistance: Polar bears are completely at home in freezing environments, and
they sufer no harm from being in a cold environment. Against attacks that cause
cold damage, a polar bear possesses resistance to cold 5.
- +4 racial bonus on swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It
can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It
can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line.
- +12 racial bonus on Hide checks in snowy areas
Cave Bear
- +4 Strength, 2 Intelligence, -2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma: Cave bears are strong, but
their prehistoric lineage makes them dull and crude.
- Large size
- Cave bear base land speed is 30 bear feet.
- Darkvision
Black bear
- +2 Dexterity, -2 Strength: Black bears are quick and agile, but they are smaller
and therefore not as
strong as other bears.
- Medium size
- +2 racial bonus on Climb, Jump, and Move Silently checks: Black bears are agile,
surefooted, and
athletic.
- +1 racial bonus on all saving throws: Black bears are surprisingly capable of
avoiding mishaps.
- +2 morale bonus on saving throws against fear. This bonus stacks with the black
bears +1 bonus on saving throws in general.
+1 racial bonus on attack rolls with a thrown weapon and slings: Black bears have
very good aim.
- +2 racial bonus on Listen checks: Black bears have keen ears.
