Lasik FlowChart:

1.

Full screening - you will a undergo series of tests which will determine your eligibility for lasik procedure. This will
take 2 3 hours.

Bright Room:
* Automated Refraction gives a computer estimate of your eye grade. This is yet to be confirmed or refined by the
Optometrist.
* Corneal Topography generates a digital image (color map) of the contour or curvature of your corneas.
* Specular Microscopy/ Pachymetry determines the status of the cornea. The corneal cells are counted and the corneal
thickness is measured.
* Air Puff Tonometry estimates the intra-ocular pressure of your eyes.
* Subjective Refraction The Optometrists will determine your refraction or eye grade. This part of the screening may take
around 30 minutes. This will be used as a reference for the eventual laser treatment.
Dark Room:
* Wave Front Analyzer used to map aberration/distortions in the passage of light in the eyes optical system such as lower and
higher-order aberration.
* OPD Scan This will also measure the distortions of light, and determines the size of the pupil in dim or night and normal
illuminations that will give us an idea whether patients are prone to experiencing halos and glare at night.
* Pentacam - Evaluates the anterior segment (front part) of your eye. Gives us one of the most important measurements which
is the thickness of the cornea.
* ORBS Scan shows the over all architecture of the cornea such as thickness, shape of its anterior and posterior.
Additional test if necessary:
* Topolyzer identifies the topography or curvature of the cornea and as well as distortions or scaring of the cornea.
* Biometry The measurements derived (i.e. eyeball length, anterior chamber depth and lens thickness) are correlated with
your refraction.
* Contact Pachymetry the Optometrist will double check the corneal thickness.
* Visual Field Test this is done to determine the extent of patients visual field.
* Contrast Glare Test
* Schirmers Test test the tear quantity of the patient.
2.

Cyclopegic Refraction This is done on the same day your retinas are checked. Under normal conditions, your eyes
have a built-in focusing mechanism that enables them to adapt to changes in lighting conditions. We temporarily
weaken this focusing mechanism to obtain the real grade of your eyes. This is achieved by instilling dilating eye drops
on your eyes. It is not advisable to drive after this examination is done. Effect of pupillary dilation usually 3 to 5 hours.

3.

Evaluation/Counseling Our Lasik Consultant will discuss our packages and details. The Ophthalmologist will be
the one to perform external and internal eye health examination.

Dos and Dont after lasik eye surgery:

Do follow the schedule of medication (i.e., eye drops) prescribed to you by your eye doctor. If you sometimes
miss or forget to put a drop on schedule, put it in as soon as you remember and put in the next drop on schedule.
Do handle the medication with clean hands and dont inadvertently injure the eye in putting eye drops. If you find
it difficult to put the drops, have a friend or relative put them for you. Keep the medication bottles clean, cool and
dry place. Dont share medication bottles to someone else. If you inadvertently touch the open nozzle of the bottle,
or it falls down, replace the bottle. You must protect yourself from infection.
While bathing, make sure that soap or water do not enter the eyes. Dont splash water into the eyes. If they feel
dry, use artificial tears instead. Do however wash your face and area around eyes (while keeping eyes closed).
Dont allow all dirt to accumulate on or around the eye lids.
Do wear sunglasses while you go out into the sun, or smoky and dusty areas.
Engaging in sports or exercise activities is not harmful. However, you are advised to gradually return to these
