Social responsibility and Ecuadorian companies
Companies generally try to adopt socially responsible standards within
corporate policies, same that are considered at the discretion of its applicability
according to each company, seeing that practices are carried out in the same
way by companies private sector by the public sector, with the only difference
that private sector companies, particularly clearly invest as those analyzed in
the development of this research capital.
Companies that are socially responsible behavior design their strategies and
establish internal management procedures taking into account not only the
social economic dimension also their actions but and environmental. CSR
encompasses all business decisions that are adopted for reasons that at first
sight are beyond the economic and technical interests of the company (Mohr,
Webb, & Harris, 2001)
In recent years numerous initiatives to establish a set of principles and codes of
conduct in order to encourage and guide enterprises in adopting CSR criteria
have emerged. These initiatives have been promoted by a variety of
institutions and international organizations -UN, OECD, EU, governments,
private organizations, business networks and foundations. In parallel, they
have proliferated consulting firms dedicated to the definition of standards and
procedures for reporting to facilitate the verification of the results achieved in
CSR (Mohr, Webb, & Harris, 2001)
With strengthening of public and private commitment for environmental
protection initiatives and good practices with sustainability in the Metropolitan
District of Quito (DMQ), the Ministry of Environment of the Metropolitan District,
I opened on Tuesday May 31, the schedule of activities planned for the

Responsibility highlighted the need and commitment to have leaders to sustain

the environment, recognizing that Ecuador is a green and happy country,

important conditions to consider (Bhattacharya, Sen, & Korschun, 2008)
Visser, cited examples of good initiatives in private companies, internationally,
that were including racial issues and environmental respect, achieving
sustainability into processes with awareness of society on these issues
(ambiente, 2016)
Ana Maria Noguera, director of the Environment and Security of the Chamber of
Industries of Pichincha (CIP) agreed interest that should exist in society about
the environmental situation; He said the private sector in recent years,
generated sustainability issues with the creation of a code of ethics, which is
based on labor axes, social security, business, and environmental tax. "Spaces
like these help make society aware on such important issues as sustainability,"
said the representative of the CIP (ambiente, 2016)

In conclusion nowadays companies use social responsibility as recycling and
source new raw material, or used as a way to promote their businesses with
different logos and awards in relation to the environment; in any case they
have to assist in the environmental aspect and improve quality of life. Major
initiatives of companies and municipal courses have contributed workshops,
but efforts are not enough because as explained one of the exhibitors Ecuador
is using the same resources that are being generated and is on the verge of
surpassing what they can consume, with this it is clear that there is a long way
ahead to go
