Background

Since the announcement by Teresa Anderson, CEO of Sydney Local Health District, to shut down Lucas Street Childcare Centre, a community petition signed
by over 700 supporters has been circulated publicly on change.org.
This petition indicates that the shutdown of Lucas Street Childcare Centre, and its replacement by a car park, has agitated an enormous number of
stakeholders beyond the current parents at Lucas Street.
Furthermore, this news has received mainstream media attention from the Sydney Morning Herald, the ABC, with additional stories to come. Several local,
state and federal MPs are also conducting additional investigations with local MP for Newtown, Jenny Leong, publicly coming out against the planned
closure. Additional inquiries are underway here.
Given the significance of this response, we call on Teresa Anderson to personally respond to a series of specific issues beyond just the childcare disclosure
but related implications to RPA employees for the car park and future centre. A specific list of questions and requests are outlined below, which will be
raised at the parent information night on 15 June 2016 and will be reiterated and added to, until addressed. We ask Teresa Anderson to address these
issues at the parent information night on 15 June 2015. Alternately, we call on a community forum to address these issues in which a larger cross-section of
engaged stakeholders are invited.
Responses to these issues are requested in writing in enable public dissemination. Otherwise, minutes of meetings to be made available.
