pray for Orlando

We continue to pray for our city following the violent
shootings in our community last weekend. Please pray for
the families who mourn the loss of loved ones, those who
were wounded, first responders, law enforcement, city
officials, and anyone touched by the trauma of this event.
Pray for God's peace and hope to be present in our midst.

NOTES

TRADITIONAL

Have you ever tried to explain or describe something

and discovered there were no adequate words
available? Words can only go so far. There are times
when we stand and look at a sunset in silence. Even a
picture is not like the real thing. We need to be there
to see the real thing. Our opening hymn acknowledges
this fact. It is not possible to describe our God,
though we try. We have come today to worship our
indescribable God and Father. We are not involved
in a passive religious exercise. To worship is to be in
communion with Him this morning as His children.
God is our Father only when we are in Christ. God is
the Father of Jesus and when we are in Jesus, God is our
Father. Remember we are adopted children. As Matthew
Henry commented so long ago, God adopted us as His
children, not because He needed a family, but because
we are orphans and needed a Father. Fellow orphans,
let us worship our immortal, invisible, glorious, wise,
almighty, victorious, unchanging.God.

WE ARE
MADE FOR
COMMUNITY
God has always existed in community. Before the
earth was even created, the Bible tells us that God
exists as The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit the
first small group ever! As people created in Gods
image, we need community too, and we invite you
to take part in a small group.
A SMALL GROUP is a safe place where you can
further your journey of discipleship. You can grow
in your knowledge of God through Bible study and
prayer, experience care and belonging through
fellowship, and be encouraged to share Gods
love through service with others. We are called to
love God and love people, and small groups are a
great way to live out this command.
Groups begin meeting the week of September 11.
They will start with our fall Study sermon series
For The Life of the World.
