A. Introduction
The Figure below illustrates the framework and the underlying architecture. It is assumed that
all components have been properly installed (please refer to the 'Diamant Master Installation'
documentation).
B. Workflow
Some configuration steps are required on the DMC before clients can work with the Diamant
Master server, namely:
User definition: The users running the clients must be declared inside the DMC,
see section G.3 of the 'Diamant Master Installation'.
Data source definition: In the DMC you need to declare the adequate data sources,
see the DMC on-line help.
The following sections focus on the main workflow steps. Please note that you can call
the Ecrin on-line help (or the help in the DMC) for more detailed information.
B.1 Connect to the Server and Create/Open a Field
Start Ecrin and select File Diamant Master Connection. The dialog below (left) appears.
Connection dialog
After entering the server name you can click on Connect. The bottom list in the
Connection dialog shows the existing Fields.
If you have sufficient rights, you can create and delete hierarchy elements and all other
connected clients will be notified at once. Note that a node currently active in a client browser
is considered locked and cannot be deleted by others.
Right click on the Field and select Add new Well (or use the corresponding toolbar
icon
).
Create Gauge:
Right click on the well and select Add new Gauge (mirror). This displays a dialog where
the data sources you defined in the DMC are listed:
Click on the desired Data Source and press Next >>. This will
call the interface for the specific plugin, to let you select the tag
in your data server. The Load dialog will be shown next, and
after validating, the gauge object appears in the data tree,
see opposite.
to get
At the same time as the mirror, the mirroring process on the Master creates a preview file.
At first this file contains all the points, but as more points are read, the preview points become
sparser. What is transferred to the client, and plotted, is the preview only.
Create filtered data: Once a tag is mirrored and provided that a sufficient number of points
have been mirrored, you can create a filtered data set (you need 100,000 points
in the mirror).
Right click on the Gauge node, and select Add new Filtered data. The filtering is defined
with the usual dialog sequence (preview, preload, filter).
When you validate, the master writes the filter description in the Master database where the
filtering process will pick it up. The filtering process runs continuously and acts whenever a
mirror has grown sufficiently to be filtered. More precisely, if the client has used 100,000
points in the Pre-load, whenever 100,000 mirror points are read, a new filter window will be
considered. The filtering process writes the filtered point in a BLI file.
In the client, data points are loaded in memory only when they are displayed. For instance
when you click on a Filtered data node in the browser, the clients asks the server the data
points written in the BLI until that stage, and loads them in its memory. Once this has
happened, the subsequent update in the client memory will be triggered by a manual call
to the Update All option
You can force the filtering of the last mirrored data with the Filter last mirrored data option.
Note that if a Master process is working on this filtered data, you will receive a message.
B.3 What else?
Adding filtered data sets: Under a Gauge node you can add as many filtered data sets as you
want to test different settings.
Drag & drop: Filtered data may be dropped to other modules (Saphir, Topaze).
.
Editing: You can enter the editing mode from the plot display by clicking on the Lock icon
By doing so you are instructing the Master to hold any other modification of the particular
data. Actually if another user is editing, or if the Master itself is updating the data, the icon will
reflect this. For instance the icon
After editing you must update the Master by pressing the Lock icon again. This validates your
changes and the usual processes can resume.
Production data: The well rates may be defined, either from an existing filtered data set, or by
a direct load, without filter, from a production database. In any case, once loaded they will
become candidates from the automatic summing of productions. This is handled by the Master
Calculation Process, operating a set frequency.
Plots, data functions:
You can create as many plots as you want and drag and drop on them, filtered data, as well as
create functions.
Please refer to the Ecrin on-line help for more information on all the above options.
