Apply Size Rule Applies the size of the selected component to the attached size of the previous
component. Three settings are available: Show Options, Automatic, and No. In the example above, a 1inch flange is being added to a 3-inch pipe. When this rule is set to Show Options, you receive the
prompts shown in the image on the left (1). When this rule is set to Automatic, the size of the
component is changed to match that of the pipe, as shown in the image in the middle (2). When this rule
is set to No, the size of the flange stays the same size as the flange size selected, as shown in the image
on the right (3).

3.

Apply Specification Rule Applies the specification of the selected component to the attached
specification of the previous component. Three settings are available: Show Options, Automatic, and
No. In the example above, a 1-inch 300 lb specification flange is being added to a 1-inch 150 lb
specification pipe. If this rule is set to Show Options, you receive the prompt shown on the left (1). If
this rule is set to Automatic, the result is similar to the image shown in the middle (2), where the
specification is changed to be the same as the pipe. If this rule is set to No, the result is similar to the
image shown on the right (3), where the specification remains unchanged as illustrated by the green
color of the 300 lb specification.

Apply End Type Rule Checks the end type of two inserted components for a match. Three settings are
available: Show Options, Automatic, and No. In the example above, a 2-inch globe valve is being added
to a 2-inch pipe. If this rule is set to Show Options, you receive the prompt shown on the left (1). If this
rule is set to Automatic, you receive a prompt similar to the one shown in the middle (2), indicating that
adding a globe valve to a beveled piece of pipe without a flange violates the end type rules. If this rule is
set to No, the software adds the valve without displaying any prompts, as shown in the image on the
right (3).

3.

Apply Pipe Length Rule Uses the Specification Editor settings for minimum and maximum length of
pipe allowed. Three settings are available: Show Options, Automatic, and No. In the example shown
above, a 3-inch length of pipe is being drawn. If this rule is set to Show Options, you receive the prompt
shown on the left (1). If this rule is set to Automatic, the pipe is extended to 6-inches, as shown in the
image in the middle (2). If this rule is set to No, the size does not change and a 3-inch length of pipe can
be drawn, similar to the image on the right (3).
Apply Weld Insertion Rule Controls the automatic placement of
weld gaps. Two settings are available: No and Automatic. If this rule
is set to No, weld gaps are not placed automatically. If this rule is set
it to Automatic, weld gaps are placed automatically. When setting
the rule to Automatic, you can specify whether it applies to
Buttweld, Socket Weld, or Both.

Apply Gasket Insertion Rule Controls the automatic placement of
gaskets when a set of components requiring gaskets are placed in
the drawing. Two settings are available: No and Automatic. Only
flanges that have a pair or a valve attached will have automatically
added gaskets. This can be seen in the image at the left. If this rule is
set to No, gaskets are not placed automatically. If it is set to
Automatic, gaskets are placed automatically when they are required.
Apply Bolt Insertion Rule Controls the placement of bolts in the
drawing when components requiring bolts are placed. Two settings
are available: No and Automatic. In the drawing to the left, the bolt
is represented by the letter B that is lying down perpendicular to the
gasket. If this rule is set to No, bolts are not placed automatically. If
it is set to Automatic bolts are placed automatically when they are
required.

Apply Trimmed Elbow Rule Allows you to place trimmed elbows in the model. The image above shows
a trimmed elbow and how to identify it in the Component Edit dialog box. Two settings are available:
No and Automatic. If this rule is set to No, trimmed elbows not allowed. If this rule is set to Automatic,
trimmed elbows allowed.
Apply Pipe Healing Rule Heals the
pipe when a component within a
section of pipe is deleted. The images
at left show a tee with weld gaps.
These are being deleted and then the
pipe heals itself. There are two
options: No, which does not allow
pipe healing, and Automatic, which
allows pipe healing.

Apply Branch Table Rule Controls whether the software checks the Branch table when branches are
inserted into the drawing. This is a valuable tool when you are drawing reducing branches because it
ensures that you are drawing valid branched components. Two settings are available: No and
Automatic. When this rule is set to Automatic, the software checks the Branch table, as shown in the
example shown above. If this rule is set to No, then the branch table is not checked.

Apply Flange Insertion Rule Controls how flanges are inserted into the model. If this rule is set, a
flange is automatically placed in the drawing when required. The image above left illustrates how the
piping continues on when you manually insert a flange while routing. The image above right illustrates
automatic flange placement when the rule is set. There are a number of options available for this rule.
The main options are Automatic and No. When this rule is set to No, flanges are not automatically
inserted into the drawing. When this rule is set to Automatic, the type of flange you have specified is
automatically placed in the drawing when required. An option that allows the software to place flanges
based on the defined specification is also available. For more information, see Apply Flange Insertion
Rule in the CADWorx Plant Users Guide.

Apply Bolt Hole Orientation Rule Applies the angle of the bolt holes based on three different
selections in the rule.

Automatic 1 Hole (image on the left)

Automatic 2 Holes (image in the middle)
Show Options Specify Input Angle (image on the right).

In each image, the red line denotes the center of the flange and how the holes correspond to that
center. The last image shows the angle as set at 15. This rule can only be viewed in 3D Enhanced mode.
Apply Pipe End Prep Rule Controls the application
of the Pipe End Prep rule. Three settings are
available: Show Options, No, and Automatic. When
this rule is set to Show Options, you receive the
prompt as pictured here. This allows you to decide
whether to set the Pipe End Prep. If you do not want
to receive this prompt, select No. This does not prep
the end of the pipe. However, selecting Automatic
preps the end of the pipe automatically without
displaying any options.

Center Line Turns on and off the centerline. The example on the left shows
an image without a center line.
