AIRPORT
An airport is a location where aircraft such as
fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and blimps take off
and land. Aircraft may be stored or maintained at
an airport. An airport consists of at least one
surface such as a runway for a plane to take off and
land, a helipad, or water for takeoffs and landings,
and often includes buildings such as control towers,
hangars and terminal buildings.

runway
is
a
"defined
rectangular area on a land
aerodrome prepared for the

and
takeoff
of
aircraft
Runways may be a
man-made surface (often
asphalt, concrete, or a
mixture of both) or a natural
surface (grass, dirt, gravel,
ice,
or salt).

RUNWAY
The active runway is the runway at an airport
that is in use for takeoffs and landings. A runway
can normally be used in both directions, and is
named for each direction separately: e.g., "runway
33" in one direction is "runway 15" when used in
the other. The two numbers always differ by 18 (=
180).

APRON
The airport apron is the
area of an airport where
aircraft are parked, unloaded
or
loaded,
refueled,
or
boarded. Although the use of
the apron is covered by
regulations, such as lighting
on vehicles, it is typically
more accessible to users
than the runway or taxiway.
However, the apron is not
usually open to the general
public and a license may be
required to gain access.

APRON
The use of the apron may be controlled by the
apron management service (apron control or apron
advisory) to provide coordination between the users.
The apron is designated by the ICAO as not being
part of the maneuvering area. All vehicles, aircraft and
people using the apron are referred to as apron traffic.

RUNWAY STRUCTURE
PAVEMENT
The choice of material used to
construct the runway depends on the
use and the local ground conditions.
For a major airport, where the ground
conditions
permit,
the
most
satisfactory type of pavement for longterm
minimum
maintenance
is
concrete.
For pavement designs, borings are
taken to determine the subgrade
condition, and based on the relative
bearing capacity of the subgrade, the
specifications are established. For
heavy-duty commercial aircraft, the
pavement thickness, no matter what
the top surface, varies from 10in
(250mm) to 4ft (1m), including
subgrade.

Bandung International Airport Husein Sastranegara
is the main airport in Bandung city area, West Java,
Indonesia.
The airport is located in the city of Bandung and is
surrounded by mountains, thus the landing
approach has unique characteristics. This airport
handles smaller size aircraft types, such as CASA
CN235 or F28, and larger airplanes, such as the
Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 series.

CONCLUSION
An airport is a location where aircraft such as fixedwing aircraft, helicopters, and blimps take off and
land. Facility in an airport divide by two part, there
are land side and air side. Two of the facilities in air
side are Apron and Runway. Apron is parking area of
the plane near the terminal building. And runway is
an area on the airfield that used for take off and
landing. After we analysed the airport, we can make
the conclusion that the airport has reached the
standard Direktorat Jendral Perhubungan Udara.
