Letter of Reference for Christine Kuha

I am pleased to be able to provide a reference for Christine Kuha whom I have known and worked with
for six months and who has made a very positive impression upon me even in that time.
Christine joined Leipzig International School in October 2015 as a permanent full-time substitute teacher for the Primary school on a four month contract. LIS is a non-profit school in Germany which provides an English language education to children of international and local families. Currently there are
850 students enrolled in the school.
The permanent substitute role involves the teacher releasing other teachers on a regular basis to do
their coordinator roles in both the Primary school and the Early Childhood Centre. This meant that
Christine was working in the whole spectrum of Primary classes and with children from 3 years of age
to 11 years. Christine was new to working with our international curriculum but she made a big effort to
understand it and quickly learnt about planning and how to organise the learning in our style and manner.
The other part of Christines role was that she was the cover teacher; this meant she was asked to take
on classes at short notice when teachers were absent. Christine proved to be the ideal person for the
permanent substitute teacher position as she was well organised, flexible and very hard working. She
has a positive manner, is calm and nothing seemed to faze her. Also the fact that Christine had a good
rapport with the students and was able to control the class really helped her to do her job well. She
planned her lessons carefully and ensured that she provided stimulating lessons which were appropriately differentiated, catering for the needs of the students but also challenging them.
Christine collaborated very well with her colleagues; she took initiative and looked for ways that she
could support teachers when she had time available. She was a positive influence in the school and
has shown that she is willing to develop professionally and try new initiatives.
I would certainly be keen to re-employ Christine if the opportunity arose in the future and can fully
recommend her as a very good Primary school teacher to another school
