1. "Each is SINGULAR.
2. Starting a sentence with THAT is not necessarily an error and actually
can be a good answer choice on the FIX questions.
3. Sentences that start with "WERE they to" or "WERE
something not to something" are usually good answer choices.
4. Would OF should be would HAVE.
5. The correct correlative conjunction is "BETWEEN something AND
something not BETWEEN something OR something.
6. Either and Neither are SINGULAR.
7. Be on the lookout for illogical comparisons.
8. John HAD MISSPOKEN is CORRECT. John HAD MISSPOKE is
INCORRECT.
9. He RECOMMENDED CALLING is CORRECT. He
RECOMMENDED TO CALL is INCORRECT.
10. The fruit HAD LAIN on the table is CORRECT.
11. Remember that WHERE in a sentence must refer to a PLACE.
12. Watch for inverted sentences in which the subject comes AFTER the
verb. For example: Along the wall stand rows of books. (row is the
subject; stand is the verb.)
13. Originally first invented is REDUNDANT because originally and
first invented mean the same thing. This is an error and can be
corrected by removing one of the duplicative phrases.
14. You are incapable OF doing something is CORRECT. You are
incapable FOR DOING SOMETHING is INCORRECT.
