LEAKAGE AT FRONT BRAKE COOLING PIPING

PURPOSE:

To introduce a kit to repair leakage at the front brake cooling piping.

DESCRIPTION:

Front Brake Cooling Piping Kit (XK0717)

In some instances, continued truck operation may cause chafing and possible bending of the front brake
cooling hoses. Normal truck vibrations and brake cooling oil flow can cause flexion of the brake cooling
hoses at the upper clamps near the suspension. Continuous chafing and bending of the hoses can result in
hose failure and subsequent leakage. Refer to Figure 1 for an illustration of the potential leakage locations.

Front brake cooling piping kit (XK0717) has been developed as a countermeasure to hose chafing and
bending in this area. The kit contains tubes that replace the original hoses at the front wheel brake cooling
ports. The kit also contains new hoses and the necessary hardware for installation of the new components.
Refer to Table 1 for a complete list of the contents of the kit. An installation drawing providing installation instructions is included in the kit. Refer to Figure 2 for an illustration of the LH front axle with the kit
installed.
