The Thriller is a genre where films are characterized and defined by the moods they show to the audience, allowing viewers to gain an emphasised sense of suspense, excitement, and anxiety. The main intention for a thriller is to constantly keep the audience at edge and alert. Usually, the protagonist of a thriller faces a problem and has to complete/solve a mission, mystery or escape. Thrillers will always follow the problems and dangers that the main character faces, no matter whether it is a sub-genre or not. The tension of the problem is built up slowly throughout the films runtime and leads to an edgy and awry climax towards the end. The Action genre consists of films where action set pieces and sequences take priority from a storytelling perspective. Action films will often revolve around continuous motion and action scenes including stunt work, fights and battles. The conventional plot for an action film revolves around the protagonist, and how he/she has a goal to reach, however he/she is against incredible odds to obtain it. The films, more than anything, involve intense and exhilarating action scenes, which engage the audience to want more. An Action-Thriller uses physical motion and action to further heighten suspense, anticipation and excitement. Similar to a conventional action film, this sub-genre will again often include many action sequences and continuous motion, which will overall promote the sense of danger the characters are in.
