15TH ANNUAL STATEWIDE PARAPROFESSIONALS AS PARTNERS
CONFERENCE DYNAMIC DUOS: PARAPROFESSIONAL/TEACHER PARTNERSHIPS Tuesday, October 26, 2010 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crowne Plaza Hotel, Cromwell, CT
The 15th Annual Statewide Paraprofessionals as Partners Conference is an
opportunity for paraprofessionals to engage in cutting-edge professional development while networking with colleagues. It is designed to develop the skills of paraprofessionals to increase the effectiveness of their educational partnerships with general and special education teachers, student support services personnel, and administrators.
Concurrent presentations and discussion groups will be ongoing throughout
the conference day in 75 - 90 minute blocks. SERC is looking for eight paraprofessional/teacher presenting teams. The conference registration fee will be waived for all teams whose proposal is accepted.
Proposals should relate to the conference theme of paraprofessionals and
teachers working together successfully. Sessions may be directed at a specific population (e.g., preschool, disability-specific, math) or broad-based. Potential topics may include, but are not limited to: collaboration and communication; assistive technology; literacy; effective instructional strategies; behavior strategies; self advocacy; and data collection.
Please submit the following on or before Friday, June 11, 2010:
• The topic and title of your presentation;
• The names and contact information of presenters; • A brief description of the content for the session, including format (e.g., PowerPoint, discussion, etc.); and • A short 3-4 sentence blurb that could be used to advertise the session in a flyer.
An on-site interview will be scheduled for finalists during the week of June 14.
