SCOTTISH GAS TRAINING ACADEMY

Development of 2,000m2 shell unit into a Training

Works included:

• Individual training rooms, mock working walls and assessment areas were constructed, as was
the formation of 3 mezzanine areas to accommodate storage areas, resource rooms and plant
room

• Full electrical fit-out, fire alarm system and emergency stop system, including movement
sensors installed in the carbon friendly lighting throughout

• Installation of the latest energy efficient condensing boilers, air handling units and ventilation

• Gas extract flue corridors and gas flue extract canopies for the client’s boiler will be used for
training personnel on the maintenance of gas boilers

• The innovation shown by CBES’ energy efficient lighting scheme, impressed the consultants so
much, that they have now specified it as a feature of future projects

• The project was completed on time with all three disciplines working well together, providing
information and simplifying the co-ordination on site.

John Findlay (National Academy Manager for Centrica) commented “the


Hamilton Academy will now be the flagship for all future academies as it
has already drawn attention from Contractor’s responsible for constructing
an additional training centre in the Leicester area”.
