Dear Friends:  

Yesterday, Comptroller Tom DiNapoli stood up for millions of New Yorkers and filed a class action
lawsuit against BP for "misleading investors about its safety procedures and its ability to respond to
events like the ongoing oil spill." This bold action to protect the State’s pension fund is the latest
reminder of why Tom is the right man to be leading one of America’s largest retirement systems.   When
it comes to protecting New York’s pension fund, Tom has proven time and again that he will take on
even the biggest industries and will never back down from a fight.

In the case of the terrible mine tragedy in West Virginia two months ago, Tom took a stand against
reckless corporate behavior and called for the resignation of the sitting Massey Energy Company CEO. 
It’s in cases like this, along with Tom's leadership on the Gulf Oil Spill, that are gaining statewide,
