City of Newark is keeping it “Cool”

The City of Newark celebrated their recent endorsement of the U.S.


Mayors Climate Protection Agreement by hosting Painting Newark Green
– A Cool Cities Celebration at the Municipal Building, located at 220
Elkton Road.

Cool Cities Delaware is a state-wide volunteer effort that encourages


local governments to adopt energy sustainability, environmental
stewardship and climate protection policies and programs.

Newark now joins the cities of Wilmington and Dover as Delaware's


"Cool Cities." Festivities included a green ribbon cutting and special Mayor Vance Funk presents a letter of
recognition by Mayor Vance A. Funk III. congratulations to Ron Zink, Chairman of Cool
Cities Delaware.

The event was sponsored by the Sierra Club of Delaware; Ezra Temko, Newark City Councilman from District
Five; Bike Delaware; Center for Energy and Environmental Policy; Delaware Bicycle Council; Unitarian
Universalist Fellowship of Newark; Water Resources Agency; White Clay Watershed Association; and Wild and
Scenic White Clay Creek.
