• Project: Seismic reflection and refraction survey across and active fault, Long Beach
California, in collaboration with the US Geological Survey. A four-month project
involving fieldwork and analysis leading to seminar for the USGS and at Leeds
University.

MEarthSc Earth Sciences 2.1
• Independent Fieldwork Project. Six weeks spent geologically mapping an area of the
Cantabrian Mountains, Northern Spain. (Summer 2002)
• Masters Project.
Collection and interpretation of gravity, magnetic and seismic data. A field and
laboratory based research project leading to a 3000 word dissertation.

 Processed invoices, analysed data, dealt with customers and suppliers.
 Researched and prepared response for the United Nations Claims Commission.
 Redesigned and tested new Expense Claim form.
2002-2003 President of the Oxford Geology Society, Geolsoc.
 Lead a committee responsible for organising seminars, speakers and social events.
 Responsible for budget allocation and some public speaking.
1999-2000 Gap Year placement with Shires Aggregates (6 months).
 Testing and sampling aggregates used in highways.
 Liaised with site engineers.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Fluent in Spanish. Native Welsh speaker. Basic French.

INTERESTS & ACTIVITIES


Travelling: During my gap year I travelled extensively in the Far East.
My degree has given me opportunities for travel in the UK and Europe.
Music: Lead alto sax player and founding member of Mertz Swing Band
 performing at local venues and for weddings and other social events.
