International Award for Young People Bronze
Level Adventurous Journey Assessment

Dear Parents,

Your son/daughter has successfully reached the assessment stage of

the International Award for Young People. The assessment expedition
will take place to the north of Kao Yai National Park, near Pak Chong.
Students will be leaving school at 0700am and returning by 1700hrs
the following day.
Depart Saturday 16th October 2010
Return Sunday 17th October 2010

We are able to take on this trip a maximum of 60 students. ( first

come - first served). If demand for assessment is greater than this,
an additional weekend will be set, early in 2011.

Staff with mountain leadership qualifications as well as many years of

personal and leading experience will supervise the expedition.
The aims of the expedition are to assess student's abilities to work
with others, be self-reliant, and develop a rational approach to staged
emergencies. In addition, the key skills of camp-craft and navigation
will be assessed. Students will complete the expedition in their groups
but unaccompanied by a member of staff. UK Qualified Mountain
Leaders and an Assessor will be observing all groups at intervals and
the students will be passing through a series of staffed checkpoints.
Please complete and return the Parental permission form & Sign
up by Friday 17th September 2010, to Khun Pare in the Secondary
Office. No forms will be accepted after this date Thai MOE Rules.
