    (3) Requirements
    This Update is only for updating from version 1.0.3 to 1.0.4. This update cannot be
    used to update other versions. If you are using a FilmGet FS version older than 1.0.3, you
    must first update FilmGet FS to version 1.0.3, then install this update.
    To check the installed version of FilmGet FS, launch FilmGet FS and choose
    “About FilmGet FS” in the Help menu.

    (4) Changes with FilmGet FS version 1.0.4


    1. Scanning time improvement when using the USB connection.
    2. Performance improvement of the tone curve for both USB and SCSI
    connections.

    (5) Installation
    Prior to installing this Updater, power OFF the CanoScan FS4000US and exit all
    applications. If other scanner devices are connected, be sure to also disconnect these
    devices from the computer in the same way before installing this update. The update
    may not be performed properly if the computer recognizes the FS4000US or other
    scanner devices.

    1. Double-click the downloaded file to extract it. (The default location is


    C:\Canon.)

    2. Open the “C:\Canon” folder and Double-click on “FS4000US_Patch.exe ” to


    start.

    3. The Patch will scan your computer for software that will support the installation.
    Click [Yes] to start installation procedure.

    4. When the below window appears, installation was successful.


    5. Below is an example of what the About window will show when running
    FilmGet FS v1.0.4.

    (6) Troubleshooting
    The following is a list of messages that may appear during installation:

    If FilmGet FS 1.0 is NOT installed:


    - “This patch software could not find FilmGet FS 1.0 on your PC. Please install
    FilmGet FS 1.0 Version 1.0.3 before you run this patch software.”

    If the Update Fails:


    - “The Update was not successful. If your FS4000US and/or other scanner devices
    are connected, please disconnect them from your computer and restart it.”

    If the Update was interrupted or cancelled:


    - “The patch software update to Version 1.0.4 was cancelled.”

    If the installed version of FilmGet FS is earlier that v1.0.3:


    - “Before you run this patch software, please update your FilmGet FS 1.0 from
    version x.x.x to 1.0.3 in advance.”

    If FilmGet FS was already updated:


    - “Your FilmGet FS 1.0 is Version 1.0.4. You do not need to update it.”
