m I chose to use this music video

as I feel that it has certain,


specific elements that would fit
perfectly and work well with my
music video.

m This music video is a typical RnB


style video, which has a clear
narrative with a storyline which
people can follow.
In the video ´madµ
(by Ne-Yo), close-ups
are used frequently.
This is effective in a
song like this which is
slow, sad and full of

emotion as the
audience can see the
full emotion the
characters are feeling.
I will use this element in
my music video as the

similiar mood to that in
this music video.

allows the audience
to understand and
see what he is
feeling.
V The music video is trying to show to the audience the emotion and feeling
the artist is undergoing at that moment which is why throughout the video
there is constant close-ups and mid-shots. We rarely get long shots in the
whole music video.
V The close ups used is very successful as it allows the audience to be involved
with the artist as they are not distant.
V For example, à   and à   link with each other. They use plenty of
close ups just to portray his emotion, which is clearly upset and sadness.
V ˜   is just a simple close up of his lips, even though we don't see this for
long the audience is entirely fixed on this specific close up with his voice just
singing, emphasizing the lyrics.

The shots are either
close ups or mid-shots,
as they don't want
the viewer to be
distracted from the

and mid-shots allows
the audience to focus
on just the artist
singing and nothing
else occurring in the

I will use this element of just


having the artist singing
alone with a black
background and spotlight,
as I feel that it is simple yet
effective. Also then cutting Photo: 6
to close-ups like this @˜ 
will bring the audience in
more.
All these shots covey to the audience that there is
a Y 
between the two characters. We
immediately understand that something has
happened between them. We can tell that they
are in a relationship but had a dispute which is why
they is a distance between them.
Ne-Yo here is singing to the girl but she
doesnt pay attention to him and carries 

on with what she is doing. This adds to
the sense to that they had fight and is
shown to the audience that he is not
really there.

As you carry on to watch the video, you realise


that Ne-Yo has died, and we understand that
he has been a ghost in the video. Nevertheless,
the way they are both apart from eachother
still represents the distance of there relationship
due to an argument at the start of the video.

  is portrayed effectively through the


female character as we get close ups of her
facial expressions. To add to this ¶Ne-Yo·
reinforces he sadness between them through
the distance they have showing that have lost
each other.

m ºne of the main themes in the music video is death. This is represented as it clearly
has a funeral and ends with revealing the ´Ne-Yoµ has died, (as the audience
thought the child had died in the beginning)

m Another major theme in the video is relationships. The two characters represent a
relationship to the viewers that is not happiness yet a side which is realistic as
couples to argue. However, the moral of the video is to say that despite the
argument, never leave things on a bad not as you don't know when it will be your
last time you speak.

In my opinion this is effective as it gives the audience something positive out of the
video so it will

well as our target audience are young 16-25.
