Activities:
Field operation: The Field Operation activities begin with organization of Dairy Co-
operative Societies in the rural areas and end with milk transportation to the dairy dock. The
basic Field Operations include:-
Organization of Dairy Co-operative Societies on 'Anand' pattern. Organizing milk producer
farmers' training programs for formation of co-operatives, awareness to co-operative
principles & milk production enhancement techniques etc. Procurement and transportation
arrangement of milk.Providing Technical Input services to the milk producer farmers for milk
production enhancement such as Animal Health Care (First Aid & Emergency), Artificial
Insemination, Balanced Cattle feed and improved fodder seed etc. Preference to economically
weaker sections, small & marginal farmers, scheduled caste / tribe categories in various
activities.
Plant operation: The plant operation activities begin with receipt of milk at the Chilling
Centre / Dairy Dock and end with dispatch of milk & milk products for distribution. The
basic activities of Plant Operations include:-
Reception of milk at Chilling Centre / Dairy Dock.Testing of milk, Pasteurization, Chilling,
Packing, Manufacturing & packing of Main products like Ghee, SMP, White Butter & Table
Butter.Manufacturing & packing of indigenous products like Shrikhand, Lassi, Peda, Salted
& Plain Butter Milk, Flavored Milk etc.Storage of products.
Marketing: The Marketing Activities at the Milk Unions/MPCDF can be summarized here
under:-
Marketing of different types of milk in different pack sizes (Full Cream Milk, Standard Milk,
Toned Milk, Double Toned Milk, Skimmed Milk etc.) under the brand name "Sanchi".
Marketing of Indigenous fresh milk products (Ghee, Flavored Milk, Butter Milk, Shreekhand,
Sweet Curd, Mattha, Dahi, Lassi, Peda, Chakka, Mawa, Paneer etc.) under the brand name
"Sanchi" within the state.
Sales Promotion and advertisingSale of surplus milk to the other cooperative Milk Unions
under the State Milk Grid (SMG) and to other Cooperative Organizations / Milk Unions
outside the state under the National Milk Grid (NMG).
Marketing of Ghee, Skimmed Milk Powder (SMP) and Table Butter under the brand name
"Sneha" by MPCDF (products manufactured by the Milk Unions) outside the state. Consumer
Awareness about Pasteurization of milk, "Quality" and "Hygiene" aspects of "Sanchi" milk
and milk products. Distribution System for liquid milk and milk products in the towns.
Tapping new areas and townships for sales coverage.Organizing campaigns against
adulterated milk.

Industrial visit started with a 20 minutes initial round of presentation which briefed the
students about the company profile, achievement, etc. There was a Question
Session in which students asked various questions about the group, the strategic moves of
company, different ventures, etc. Our questions were answered with proper reasoning. The
second stage was an industry look around in which we visited various locations of plant.
INTRODUCTION: Eicher Motors, was founded in 1982 to manufacture a range of reliable,
fuel-efficient commercial vehicles of contemporary technology. The unit manufactures and
markets commercial vehicles with Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) ranging from 5-25 tons.
Today, Eicher Motors is one of the leading manufactures of commercial vehicles in India
with a 33% market share in the 7T-11T segment. The success and growth of this unit is a
result of various customer-driven strategies. The manufacturing facility is situated in Central
India – Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh. Eicher Motors has stepped into the Heavy Commercial
Vehicle segment with its state-of-the-art HCV, the "Eicher 20.16", the first commercial
vehicle designed and developed indigenously. Eicher Motors functions through a strong
three-tier service network consisting of authorized distributors, service centers and company
trained private mechanics. The vehicles are sold and serviced through a network of over 576
Authorized Contact Points all over India, supported by service centers and over 4500
company trained private mechanics, who are close at hand on all major highways throughout
India to provide initial "first aid" to the vehicles if required.

Group. The business activities of the company are carried out by its constituent Business

EICHER MOTORS
Manufactures a range of commercial vehicles with GVW of 5 to 11 tons. It has been
outperforming the industry for the past six years. The sales growth in its LCV segment has
been higher than that of the industry. In technical and financial collaboration with Mitsubishi
Motors Corporation of Japan, EML started manufacturing the CANTER range of vehicles in
1986 at its plant at Pithampur in Central India. The plant is a "state-of-the-art" facility with an
integrated capacity of around 20000 vehicles per annum.
ROYAL ENFIELD
Royal Enfield, manufacturers of the renowned range of Bullet motorcycles, has pioneered
manufacture of motorcycles in India. It has a wide range of high powered bikes in its stable to
deliver a ‘unique motorcycling experience’ to its rider. Presently Royal Enfield is producing
six different models ranging from 300cc to 600cc.All the products are manufactured
indigenously in its manufacturing plant in Chennai, which has an annual installed capacity of
manufacturing 39,000 motorcycles.
