10.1.2. Consistency Award
In 2000, Unilever strategy ( Path to Growth) was defined through the clusters shown below.
TPM Office pillars were built in order to help this strategy by acting on the following clusters:
Simplify and World Class Supply Chain.
During Phase II, the TPM Office pillar developed a detailed three-year Master Plan based on
the 2001 Supply Chain Assessment to help in the implementation of Unilever’s Strategy. The
Master Plan considered both reactive and proactive approaches. Each activity is related to
pillar indicators.

10.1.4. Objectives
The Office Pillar purpose is to optimize administrative processes in the Vinhedo site by
eliminating material, financial and administrative losses in order to impact on cost reduction
and service level maximization, thus contributing for the dissemination of TPM culture in all
supporting areas, as well as customers and suppliers, ensuring quality and trust in our
services and products.

10.2.2. Methodology for Obsolete Materials
Obsolete Materials include any material that cannot be used in the production process because of one of
the following reasons:
• It belongs to a discontinued product line;
• Materials have been internally damaged (handling, etc);
• It is part of the stock of a promotion that has already been concluded;
• It is beyond its expiration date;
• Replaced material (VIP)
Obsolete materials shall be minimized by correctly planning supplies, therefore avoiding high value of
leftover materials. They shall be effectively controlled in order to ensure that these materials will be reduced
quickly, thus freeing physical space, eliminating inherent costs and allowing this capital to be productively
invested.
Control Template

10.2.3. Administrative Losses Methodology
The Administrative Losses Methodology is based on the “5 Why” methodology implemented in the
mechanical and electrical areas into the factory. The main principle of this analysis is to determine
the root cause of the problem through a deep study of it. Each problem is considered on itself and
quickly solved .
Different from the “Break Down Analysis”, the Administrative Losses Methodology takes into
consideration a three losses registration form in order to capture an initial idea of the problem. The
three losses registration form was made based on the main causes that originated the losses.
When a line stoppage occurs , a registration form is opened taken into consideration the
Administrative Three Losses. (Figure 1.1)

10.5 Autonomous Maintenance
After implementing the material segmentation methodology (Life or Death and JIT), the “Life or
Death” materials management was passed on from the supply planning to the inbound area. By
utilizing the calculation formulas to determine safety stocks and the range of stock fluctuation
(minimum and maximum control points), both the Inbound area and the suppliers agreed on the
replenishment strategy.

10.6.2. Elimination of Loss due to Obsolescence
Definition: Obsolete materials are those that will no longer be used and that will be disposed because of
disruptions that occur in the write-off process.
WHAT IS WRITE-OFF? It is the process through which all suppliers will be informed of the “fixed” plan of
volume to be delivered by the last production date.
Objective: Reduce leftover materials of the Mercury Project - Relaunch of the Seda / Sedal line

10.6.4. Long Waiting Time in Material Receiving
