ANTI-CORRUPTION STRATEGY

1. In recent yeas, people usually talk about the finance crisis. While

it is obviously important to build up a new, better financial

mechanism and banking system or upgrade the risk analysis and

surveillance measurement effectiveness, we need more cooperation to

find out common solutions for this crisis.

2. However, there is yet another crisis which still captures little

people’s consciousness: the humanity crisis. Thousand millions

people across nations are seriously suffering from financial

turbulence and at risk of poverty. Society advancement could be

pushed backward for decades. This crisis can make million people out

of work and pose threats against society security and stability.

3. This crisis is corruption. No matter how much investment and

trade flow in to a country, economic stability can not stem from an

environment subverted by corruption. Whether corruption take form

of relation between large companies and high- profile government

officials or just a bribe for “rank and file” customs officers, its

consequences remain unchanged: corruption hurts the rule of the law,

hold economic growth back and cause most serious damages to the

poor.

4. The posed question is: What can the government do to fight

against corruption? Many developing countries do not have

substantial administration bodies to keep their economy clear and

healthy, or still have but they are very weak. The insuffiences in

some areas which generate economic transparency such as banking,

corporate management, tax institutions, judiciary, and audit

measurements make them lose investors’ creditability. Therefore,

anti- corruption strategy must start by strengthening these agencies.

5. Beside institutional reform, the public’s engagement and

observation can be an essential part of an effective solution. It is

important thing because it points out who are the bad guys and who

care for integrity. Journalists, national assembly delegates,

businessmen and auditors need to be well-trained to find out the roots

and weed out corruption. This battle is fierce and far from completed.

However, it is sure that we have to fight and defeat it.
