Impact / Rupture Resistance .

Confirms to IS / ASTM .
Falling Dart Impact Tester
An equipment to test the quality of film / laminate in respect of its resistance to rupture due to sudden
impact.

In this equipment a metal dart (or any other suitable material) of pre-known weight and pre-defined
contour is dropped on the film / laminate surface from a fixed height of 66 cm.

A good film is resistant to rupture even at higher weights.

Features :
- Foot-Operated Switch to Clamp / Un-Clamp the film sample.
(This facilitates the operator to comfortably operate the machine with 2 free hands).
- Umbrella switch to activate / de-activate the ElectroMagnet Coil.
- Foam Padding inside the Catching Pit (to protect damage to the falling dart).
- Bounce Guard (to protect the Dart from bouncing off high-quality films).
- Standard Drop Height : 660 mm.
- Dart Set : Basic dart set with 200 – 300 grams weight. (5 gm increment).
- Additional Dart sets can be purchased for any weight range.

Special Feature :
Works on Pressure System (Compressed air is used to clamp the sample rather
than the normal Vacuum system) and is easier to manage with negligible maintenance
Uses standard compressed air supply available in any laboratory.
No need for vacuum pumps, that are very noisy and require regular maintenance

Test Procedure :
1) Press Foot-Switch. The clamp will open up.
2) Place the film sample between the clamps.
(Your both hands are FREE, so you can comfortably place the film)
3) Release the foot-switch. The clamps will hold the film firmly.
4) If desired the clamping pressure can be increased / decreased as per your
requirement with the help of a pressure regulator.
5) Release the Umbrella-Switch latch. The electromagnet will energise.
6) Place the dart in the electromagnet. The dart will stay suspended in the air.
7) Press the Umbrella-Switch to release the dart.
8) Record the film failure and repeat with total 10 samples. Increase dart weight if required.
